With Present – Praying – Reconciling as guiding principles, the Church of Sweden in Lund is taking new steps to meet future challenges. The Church of Sweden in Lund is a pastorate with 7 parishes, 1 cathedral, 15 churches including one cooperative church with EFS, 3 chapels, and 2 preschools, burial services, and an office.
We also have a Hospital Church, Family Counseling, and a Diaconia Center. Here we have over 200 employees and numerous volunteers, including over 130 elected representatives. The Church Council has overall responsibility and all activities are led by the Dean. Each parish has a parish council and a parish pastor.
We need reinforcement in the kitchen at Diakonicentralen in Lund and are seeking a Kitchen Assistant 50% who will assist the head cook in daily work but also be able and willing to prepare meals when the head cook is not present. Since this is a small work team, everyone needs to help with all kitchen work – dishwashing, cleaning, etc.
The heart of our operations is the kitchen. The aromas of food and baking combined with community around the tables are central to our work. Approximately 25 portions are prepared daily. The kitchen staff consists of a head cook who plans the menu and leads daily operations, and a kitchen assistant who handles service for our guests.
Qualifications:
*Experience in cooking
*Experience with standard kitchen work
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. In addition to practical knowledge, it is desirable if you have:
*Good collaboration skills
*Sense of humor
*Experience meeting people with varying needs
*An open and respectful approach toward our guests and share the Church of Sweden's fundamental values
The position begins with a six-month trial period, with the possibility of a permanent position after the trial period is completed.

Diakonicentralen is a long-established activity within the Church of Sweden in Lund. Our building was completed in 1901 and since the 1960s we have worked in a similar manner as today. We exist for those who need a place to go for community, read the newspaper in peace and quiet, and "just be" – to eat breakfast and lunch at cost price. If someone is in an insecure housing situation, we can offer showers and clean clothes. You are welcome to us "as you are."
