About the Position Work hours are scheduled during daytime with few exceptions during the school year. School lunch is served between 11-13 daily. Working as a kitchen assistant in a school cafeteria involves much more than just handling food. You are an important part of the students' school day and contribute to a pleasant, safe, and welcoming environment. Together with the rest of the kitchen team, you ensure that nutritious food is served in a clean and safe environment, with a strong focus on service and good customer care. The role involves quite a bit of physical work, including heavy lifting during goods receipt, repetitive movements during dishwashing and prep work, and standing and walking for most of the workday. Job Responsibilities Primary responsibility for the dining hall Food preparation: Assist our two chefs with basic cooking and preparation of the salad buffet. Serving and replenishing: Ensure that food, sides, and beverages are available throughout service and maintain order on the serving line. Dishwashing and cleaning: Handle heavy and fine dishwashing, empty trash, and clean the kitchen, dining hall, and related spaces according to established procedures. Quality control and hygiene: Follow the kitchen's HACCP program, document temperatures, and ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulations. Goods receipt inspection: Unpack, check, and sort goods upon delivery and maintain good order in refrigerated, frozen, and dry storage. Student interaction: Meet children, young people, and school staff with a pedagogical, friendly, and service-oriented approach. About You Service-oriented and pedagogical: You have a genuine interest in working in an environment with children and young people. You are patient, attentive, and spread positive energy. Teamwork skills: You enjoy working in a team, are flexible, and have no ego about stepping in wherever needed at any given time. Stress tolerance and organization: The work has multiple deadlines throughout the day. You can stay calm, prioritize correctly, and work efficiently even under time pressure. Responsible and thorough: You are punctual, have high hygiene awareness, and understand the importance of precision, especially when handling special diets. Requirements Previous experience working in a large kitchen, restaurant, or school kitchen Good knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP procedures. Good Swedish language skills in both speaking and writing to understand instructions and communicate with students.
