Your Assignment As a cook at the new Sillkajens preschool, you independently manage creating a pleasant and well-functioning kitchen environment for both children and educators. The work entails responsibility with freedom and you have significant authority to plan your own menus in accordance with school law requirements and the Swedish National Food Agency's guidelines. You prepare approximately 90 meals from scratch and prepare service for the preschool's children and educators. The kitchen's new and modern environment gives you ample space to be creative and develop both routines and meal pedagogy. You are responsible for the kitchen's budget and make climate-smart and cost-effective purchases. You also receive deliveries and some heavy lifting may occur in the work. You also ensure that the kitchen and its equipment are kept clean and organized. In collaboration with educators, you create a welcoming meal environment for our young guests. Your Experience For this position, you must have: a cook education at upper secondary or post-secondary level experience working in a preschool kitchen, large-scale kitchen, or equivalent as deemed by the employer experience with kitchen economics/budgeting experience with self-inspection and knowledge of food hygiene current knowledge of school law requirements for nutritionally balanced food and the Swedish National Food Agency's guidelines good knowledge and completed HACCP training knowledge of and experience preparing special diets good ability to express yourself in Swedish both verbally and in writing good digital skills It is meritorious if you also have: relevant post-secondary course or education experience working from a sustainability perspective Is This You? You have the ability to organize and plan kitchen work efficiently with good order and organization. You remain calm even when the pace picks up and have a positive "we'll figure it out" attitude. Since you often work alone in the kitchen, you need to be self-driven, take initiative, and feel confident making your own decisions. At the same time, you are creative and dare to try new ideas to create fun, varied, and child-friendly menus.
