In our department, over 1,000 employees work across five different operations: Property Management, Roads and Parks, Digital Transformation & IT, Meal Service, and Cleaning and Facility Services. We plan, construct, and maintain properties, roads, and outdoor environments. We provide transportation services and manage internal operations to ensure the city's services run smoothly. For example, we ensure IT environments function and remain secure, our facilities are kept clean, and the city's schools and care facilities can serve healthy meals. Meal Service in Umeå Municipality encompasses the preparation and serving of lunches in pre-schools, primary schools, upper secondary schools, restaurants, and various elderly care units. Our mission is to provide excellent service and nutritious healthy meals to our guests and, together with school and care staff, create an understanding of food's importance for good health and well-being. Through public meals, meal service contributes to public health and sustainable development. Maja Beskow is an ambitious grades 7-9 and upper secondary school with a focus on results and care. Maja Beskow is one of Umeå Municipality's practice schools, meaning we host student teachers during their practical training (VFU) throughout the school year. We are now looking for you to contribute to positive dining experiences in the role of chef with us! Your Responsibilities As a chef with us, you are responsible for leading and planning kitchen operations. You work with meal preparation and special diets, planning, administration, quality control, ordering, food procurement, and invoice management. Dishwashing and facility maintenance are also part of your responsibilities. You provide excellent service and help ensure satisfied diners. At Maja, we're a large, vibrant group, so we need someone who can collaborate with many different people. The work involves some physically demanding tasks. Excellent service is second nature to you, and you want to offer healthy choices to our most important guests and encourage them to try new flavors and experiences. Requirements Chef training or other institutional kitchen education that the employer deems equivalent Several years of experience working in an institutional kitchen or restaurant Good ability to express yourself in Swedish both verbally and in writing, plus basic knowledge of English Valid criminal record clearance from the police Merits Experience with institutional kitchen operations Experience with administrative tasks such as quality control, HACCP, and food data systems We warmly welcome your application!
