About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking additional staff members. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, remand prisons, and inmate transport. The Gävle operations area encompasses the closed correctional facility Gävle, the open correctional facility Gruvberget, and the remand prison Bomhus. Our operations run 24/7, and the largest professional group is correctional officers, with over a dozen other positions in support to ensure we fulfill our mission. At the Gävle and Gruvberget facilities, inmates are engaged in education, other structured activities, treatment programs, self-governance, or work operations, which primarily consist of carpentry production. To the Gävle facility and Bomhus remand prison, you can easily travel by public transport; to the Gruvberget facility, you need access to a car. Staff parking is available. Job Description As a cook, you will prepare meals primarily for inmates at the remand prison, and to some extent for staff. Your duties include all aspects of large-scale kitchen operations: planning, purchasing, and preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Your responsibilities also include cleaning kitchen facilities, dishwashing, and quality control in accordance with applicable regulations. Preparation of special diets and other customized meals is part of the job. You will work in collaboration with staff in other functions. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You remain calm and composed in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks.
