Duties As a cook with us, you are responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving meals according to provided recipes and quality standards. In Strömbacka's production kitchen, all cooking is done hot, and job rotation between different tasks is applied. The duties also include work in the student restaurant, dishwashing, and cleaning. Qualifications We prefer that you have restaurant training at upper secondary level or equivalent experience that the employer finds appropriate. Sufficient knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, for safe handling and communication in a large kitchen. The work requires good physical fitness. Meritorious Knowledge We are looking for someone with experience in cooking from scratch in both cold and hot kitchens. You have good knowledge of self-control, hygiene routines, and cleaning, and are accustomed to working according to these requirements. Furthermore, you have experience with job rotation in a kitchen environment and enjoy varied tasks. You are communicative, flexible, and have good teamwork skills, which helps you contribute to a positive work climate. You also have experience with raw material handling and basic knowledge of special diets. Who Are We Looking For? You are passionate about cooking with a focus on quality "cooking from scratch" and customer satisfaction. You are flexible, service-oriented, and have the ability to adapt to the needs of the operation. You work equally confidently independently and in a team and have a holistic view of the assignment. More About the Position Fixed-term employment 2026-08-31 to 2027-08-31 with possibility of extension. Vacation relief position with working hours Monday-Sunday, on duty approximately 2 of 5 weekends Working hours: 37.5 hours per week. Start date by agreement. Selection is ongoing and the position may be filled before the final application deadline. Probationary employment may be applied. Final application deadline: 2026-08-13 For employment in meal service, a police criminal record certificate must be provided. Due to the vacation period, the opportunities to answer questions about the position are limited. Questions can be answered during week 32. Meal Service is responsible for the production and serving of public meals and operates based on nutrition policy guidelines with clear objectives. Our mission is to create health-promoting and nutritious meals – food that is quality-assured, delicious, and adapted for children, youth, and the elderly. We want to contribute to good eating habits and sustainable development, with a special focus on reducing food waste. Meal Service is part of Property and Service Management, which is also responsible for maintaining municipal buildings and ensuring our facilities are clean and pleasant. Strömbacka production kitchen prepares approximately 2,000 portions per day for the upper secondary school and care and service facilities, of which approximately 1,400 portions are served in our student restaurant.
