The Faculty of Medicine is one of the largest faculties at Umeå University and attracts many students with an extensive range of education in medicine, dentistry, health, and care. We offer well-developed research infrastructure and an inspiring, dynamic environment with leading research. We view our close collaboration with the four regions in the Northern Healthcare Region as a major mutual asset for developing research and education and for securing access to our future healthcare personnel. At the Department of Diagnostics and Intervention, we conduct research and teach within nine different subject areas in close collaboration with the four Norrland regions. We have internationally recognized research environments where the breadth of subject areas enables innovation and collaboration across boundaries. Most of our researchers and teachers work clinically, and our facilities are located at the regional hospitals in Östersund, Sunderbyn, Sundsvall, and Umeå - in the midst of operations. We are now seeking a clinical assistant for our research group within the field of disaster medicine. The position is time-limited for one year with a 50% employment rate. The duty station is Umeå, but work at other locations may occur. Duties The duties include primarily leading and conducting research and carrying out investigations within disaster medicine with a focus on prehospital care in disaster areas characterized by complex conditions. This includes acquiring knowledge and experience as well as developing methods and treatments used in prehospital health and medical care's acute management of the injured. This may involve special acute measures required because the disaster area is geographically remote or difficult to access for other reasons, during severe weather conditions, during certain types of transports, and in case of threat or risk of spreading of CBRN substances. Register analyses as well as individual and group interviews for qualitative analyses are examples of the research methods applied. The work includes medical responsibility in the development and creation of educational materials within the field. Administrative duties and some teaching may also be included. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a licensed physician and has experience in research and investigations within disaster medicine, as well as demonstrated ability to implement research results in practice. Since communication within the work group takes place in Swedish, we see that you have good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing. As a person, you are self-directed, driven, and analytical. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability. Application Your application must include a CV, cover letter, and documentation of physician licensure and must be received no later than September 17. We warmly welcome your application!
