The Legal Aid Authority is a small national agency with few employees. The agency handles legal aid according to the Legal Aid Act and also serves as a demanding authority when a court has decided on a repayment obligation to the state in civil disputes. The Legal Aid Authority is co-located with Sundsvall District Court and the Rent and Tenancy Board in Sundsvall. The Chief Judge at Sundsvall District Court also serves as director of the Legal Aid Authority and the Rent and Tenancy Board. The court, agency and board share a common budget, reception and administration. In total, we are around 50 employees at the workplace. Are you a lawyer who wants to take responsibility, work independently but also together with colleagues in a small group? Then the position as a lawyer at the Legal Aid Authority might be right for you. With us, you will work together with a small, engaged and supportive team of lawyers and case officers. We are now seeking a lawyer for a fixed-term employment of 6 months. The position is a full-time role, but we are flexible and if part-time suits you better, there are good opportunities for a part-time position. Duties As a lawyer at the Legal Aid Authority, you will, among other things, make decisions in legal aid matters according to the Legal Aid Act, regarding payments of legal aid costs and compensation in advisory cases. You can quickly develop and take on your own responsibility within the organization. The role involves contributing legal expertise while maintaining an overall perspective on the agency's mandate. Since we are a small agency, all employees are expected to contribute where needed. This means that you, in addition to traditional legal tasks, may also support the organization in case handling and administrative tasks when the situation requires it. You will be responsible for moving cases forward in a legally secure, efficient and quality-conscious manner. Together with other employees, you also contribute to the development of routines, working methods and the organization's continued development. The work involves many contacts with parties, representatives, other authorities and the public. About You We are looking for someone who is responsible, engaged and has a good ability to work independently. You are organized and can plan, prioritize and manage several cases in parallel without compromising on quality and legal security. You have a solution-oriented approach and are happy to contribute to developing the organization's working methods and routines. At the same time, you are unpretentious, helpful and enjoy working closely with your colleagues to achieve the organization's goals together. You have good communication skills and professional conduct when dealing with parties, representatives, authorities, the public and colleagues. You thrive in a smaller organization where employees take joint responsibility for the agency's mandate and where everyone contributes to the organization's continued development. Qualifications Hold a Master's degree in Law (jur.kand.) or equivalent law degree Can express yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing Have good judgment and are thorough in your work Have the ability to see the bigger picture, enjoy collaborating and are willing to help your colleagues when needed Meritorious Have experience of working in another authority Have experience working with legal aid or other relevant legal areas, for example at a law firm We Offer Our work is important for your and everyone's legal security.
