Jurist with Banking and Finance Expertise

WHAT YOU'LL DO WITH US As a jurist in the Markets Division, you will have a central advisory role in legal matters concerning the Riksbank's market operations, asset management, and financial infrastructure. Your work will include qualified legal advice, contract negotiations, and broader analytical work in areas that are important for implementing monetary policy and managing the Riksbank's assets. You will work on negotiating, drafting, and developing financial agreements with the Riksbank's counterparties, primarily banks and other financial actors. As the Riksbank is a government authority, your work will also include public law matters (such as administrative law and public access and confidentiality). You are expected to be able to place legal matters in a broader operational and macroeconomic context and contribute to decision-making materials for management and operations. In this role, you will work independently and drive issues from analysis to implementation, while also serving as qualified legal support to the operations. You will collaborate with jurists and economists both within the division and across the Riksbank, as well as with our counterparties. YOUR TEAM You will be part of the unit for liquidity supply analysis within the Markets Division, which consists of both jurists and economists. As a jurist, you will work across the entire Markets Division, which is responsible for the Riksbank's activities on financial markets, including implementation of monetary policy and management of the Riksbank's gold and foreign exchange reserves. The division's jurists work closely with jurists at the legal secretariat who provide legal assessments on strategically and principally important matters. The Riksbank as a whole has around 25 jurists who meet regularly to discuss common issues across divisional boundaries. ABOUT YOU You have a Swedish law degree (previously juris kandidatexamen) and at least five years of experience in qualified legal work from a government authority, and preferably from a bank, financial company, law firm, or other relevant organization. You have current experience handling and negotiating financial agreements, such as ISDA and GMRA agreements, and a good understanding of financial instruments, market practice, and the business perspective in financial transactions. You have strong knowledge in several of the following areas: - Banking and financial market law - Contract law and commercial agreements - Capital markets law - Property law - Public law (such as administrative law, and public access and confidentiality) - EU law and regulatory issues in the financial sector. It is a merit if you also have: - Experience working in a court. - Experience with analysis related to liquidity management, market operations, or asset management. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You are analytical, have sound judgment, and can quickly grasp complex issues. You have the ability to place legal matters in an operational and macroeconomic context and to clearly communicate complex assessments to both specialists and decision-makers. You work independently and in a structured manner while collaborating well with people from different professions. You express yourself very well orally and in writing in both Swedish and English. A strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics, and matters of importance to the Swedish financial system is essential for thriving and succeeding in this role.
