The position is located in the Legal Unit, which is part of the Management Office. Together we ensure lawful, transparent, and efficient governance of the university's operations. Chalmers' combined business support plays a central role in the university's pursuit of becoming an international top university.
Job Description
As a lawyer in the Legal Unit, you will work with a broad spectrum of legal issues within the university's operations, with particular focus on research law, contract law, and intellectual property. The role has close ties to national and international research funding, including the EU's research and innovation framework program.
Examples of Responsibilities
Provide legal advice and expert support in research law, including matters related to national and international research funding
Provide legal advice and handle matters related to the EU's research and innovation framework program (e.g., Horizon Europe), including interpretation of terms, support with applications and implementation
Contract work related to research and innovation, such as consortium agreements, collaboration agreements, confidentiality agreements (NDAs), licensing agreements, and intellectual property transfer agreements
Provide legal advice on intellectual property matters, including questions of ownership, user rights, and management of research results
Provide legal advice on export control, research security, and secure handling of sensitive technology in international research collaborations
Provide legal advice and handle matters within administrative law, public access and confidentiality, and education law, particularly in matters related to research and research education
Provide advice on research data and legal aspects related to ethics review, personal data, and confidentiality
Develop and improve internal regulations, guidelines, and policy documents
Participate in internal information and training initiatives
Follow developments in legislation and research funding and analyze their implications for Chalmers
Contribute to the development of modern working methods and tools that support Chalmers' strategy and operations
You will have many contact points, both within the organization and with external parties such as universities, companies, authorities, and research funding bodies. You are expected to contribute specialized expertise and serve as a consultative resource to both colleagues within business support and the broader operations.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone with:
A law degree
A couple of years of professional experience as a lawyer
Very strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English
Good collaboration skills and ability to create and maintain good relationships
Ability to communicate legal matters in a clear, pedagogical, and easy-to-understand manner
Ability to work independently, in a structured manner, and solution-oriented
Good analytical skills and ability to relate legal issues to operational needs
Ability to prioritize and plan your work efficiently
A strong service and sense of responsibility
It is advantageous if you have experience with:
Intellectual property matters in research and innovation environments
Project and collaboration agreements in research, including consortium agreements
The EU's research and innovation framework program (e.g., Horizon Europe), grant funding, and other international research funding bodies
Export control, research security, and/or development of IP strategies in research or innovation environments
Working at a university, higher education institution, or research-intensive company
