Education Specialist

Valkas novada pašvaldība (Reg. No. 90009114839) invites applications on a permanent basis for the position of Education Specialist in the Education, Sports and Youth Department (Professional Classification Code – 2422 42). Work location: Rīgas iela 25, Valka, Valkas novads. Core Job Responsibilities: - Ensure implementation of education policy in the municipality; - Organize state examinations in accordance with procedures established by the Cabinet of Ministers; - Organize and coordinate students' participation in academic subject olympiads, competitions, exhibitions, projects, and scientific research conferences; - Coordinate education sector projects; - Organize the operation and accessibility of the municipality's pedagogical-medical commission for children with special needs; - Ensure data entry and updates in education information systems; prepare information necessary for municipal operations; - Conduct education quality monitoring activities; - Prepare draft decisions for the municipal council, responses to petitions, and press releases on education topics. Candidate Requirements: - Higher education in pedagogy, education management, education sciences, management science, quality management, or equivalent field; - State language proficiency at the highest level; - Understanding of the education system and regulatory framework (or ability to quickly acquire this knowledge); - Understanding of municipal operations and service delivery; - Very strong digital skills; - High accuracy, sense of responsibility, and communication skills; - Ability to make decisions consistently, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in education management systems; - Project management experience; - English language knowledge for work with international information; - Category B driver's license.
