Gothenburg University strives to be an international higher education institution that attracts international students. Today, we offer approximately 80 master's programs and several bachelor's programs in English that are open to international applicants. To communicate with prospective and current international students, we use student ambassadors – current students who can represent the university and share their experiences of studying at Gothenburg University. Student ambassadors also participate in the university's welcome program and various events throughout the academic year to give international students a good start to their studies. As part of our international outreach efforts, we are active on various Chinese social media platforms, where our student ambassadors play a key role in representing the university to prospective students from China. The position is at the Communications Unit, which is part of the university's central administration. We work with communications across many different areas: press, research communication, digital channels, student recruitment, visual identity, and more. Tasks may also occur at the university's International Centre. Job Responsibilities As an international student ambassador, you will be part of a team of approximately 15-20 ambassadors from around the world with different educational backgrounds and study areas. Two of our ambassadors focus on Chinese social media. The main tasks for our ambassadors are: Create and manage social media content: help represent Gothenburg University on platforms such as Weibo, WeChat, and Xiaohongshu, provide information and inspiration, plan and produce content for prospective students from China. Communicate with prospective international students to provide information about what it is like to study at Gothenburg University. Support our welcome program for new international students and participate in events throughout the academic year. Other tasks as a student ambassador are varied and flexible, and during the academic year there are opportunities to engage in different activities. Examples of specific tasks include: Participate in and host webinars and digital events Participate in virtual education fairs Create content for social media Plan and carry out events for new students (e.g., preparations, logistics, activities during the event, and act as a guide for visitors) Organize social activities for new and current international students Participate in information sessions on various topics, such as life in Sweden, exchange studies, and internship opportunities The employment is intermittent/as needed and is paid on an hourly basis. There are no fixed working hours. During the academic year, different periods will be more or less work-intensive. As an international student ambassador, your assignments are flexible, and you can contribute with your own experiences and interests. You can both plan much of your work independently or work together with other ambassadors – of course always in a way that fits with your studies. You will be able to perform your work from home but are also welcome to visit the Communications Unit's and International Centre's offices for meetings and work sessions. Qualifications Requirement to be a student at Gothenburg University Requirement to study an international bachelor's or master's program Requirement for very good knowledge of written and spoken Chinese Requirement for very good knowledge of written and spoken English Requirement for experience creating content for social media, particularly on the aforementioned social media platforms (Weibo, WeChat, Xiaohongshu) Meritorious: previous experience with similar tasks To be suitable for this assignment, you need to have a service-oriented attitude and enjoy working with people. We place great emphasis on personal qualities such as collaboration skills, motivation, and responsibility. You can inspire prospective international students and are happy to share your experiences as a student. You are organized and have a natural ability to convey information in a clear and precise manner. Employment The employment is an intermittent position from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027 with placement at the Communications Unit in Gothenburg. Hourly wage: 160 kr.
