Description The Education Support Division consists of the Unit for Education Services, the Unit for Student Support, and the Unit for Internationalization and Collaboration. The division brings together a broad range of activities including admissions, degree conferment, Ladok, exam administration, study and career guidance, student health, targeted pedagogical support, and the university's work on internationalization and collaboration. The Unit for Internationalization and Collaboration is responsible for coordinating and developing the university's international efforts and promoting collaboration in education at both undergraduate and advanced levels. Within the International Office, we work with strategic internationalization, student and staff mobility, partnerships with universities around the world, exchange programs, and national and international networks. The university is making a strategic push to strengthen recruitment of international degree program students. As the number of international students increases, we are now seeking an International Coordinator who wants to be part of developing our work and contribute to a welcoming and attractive study environment for students from around the world. Responsibilities As an International Coordinator, you are an important part of Karlstad University's internationalization efforts and work to support our international students throughout their entire student journey – from recruitment and admissions to their studies, arrival in Karlstad, and support during their studies to help them earn their degree. In this role, you are responsible for providing qualified support and service to international students before, during, and after their studies. The work includes both outward-facing activities to attract and recruit students as well as individual guidance and support on matters related to studies and student life. You also serve as support to the university's departments and subject areas in their work with international students. The work involves many contact points, both nationally and internationally. You collaborate with government agencies and other external actors and meet with students and staff in individual conversations, group information sessions, workshops, and other information activities. An important part of the role is to produce and quality assure oral and written information in Swedish and English for different target audiences. The position may include participation in digital and international education fairs and national networks. Work with admissions processes, follow-up, and payment management for international students may also be part of the role. You contribute to developing students' labor market connections through collaboration with relevant internal and external actors. The International Office is also responsible for coordinating and administering the university's exchange activities. Therefore, other tasks within internationalization and international collaboration may also occur. To create good conditions for collaboration, development, and presence in the work, you are expected to work primarily on-site at the university. The possibility of some remote work exists based on the needs and conditions of the operation. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a relevant academic degree, intercultural competence, and who through relevant experience has an understanding of the target audience and their needs. To succeed with your tasks, you need strong administrative skills – that is, the ability to structure, plan, and follow up on tasks in a careful and efficient manner within specified timeframes. You work with a service orientation and thrive in work that requires continuous development and change. You take responsibility for your tasks, can work both independently and with others, and have the ability to prioritize when workload varies. Since many of your contacts will be English-speaking, very good knowledge of both Swedish and English is required, both spoken and written. Other language skills relevant to the position are considered a plus. Experience with internationalization issues, collaboration with the business community, or admissions work at a university is considered a plus. Your own relevant experience abroad is also considered a plus. Knowledge of the university and its programs is considered a plus. We place great emphasis on personal qualities. Terms of Employment The position is full-time, 100%, fixed-term but no later than August 31, 2027 with possible extension. Start as soon as possible by agreement.
