Job Description At CIVA (Central Intensive Care Unit), we care for patients with severe medical conditions, such as failure in one or more organ systems, trauma, cardiac arrest, severe infections, or who have undergone extensive surgical procedures. CIVA receives patients from all hospital clinics and throughout the Southeastern Healthcare Region. As an intensive care nurse, you work in a team together with anesthesiologists, physiotherapists, and nursing assistants. You have a great opportunity to participate in developing the operations and be involved in improvement work. You'll have the opportunity to work with highly specialized and advanced medical and surgical care. We offer an individually tailored introduction, and together with your manager, you'll develop a plan for your future training and competence development. CIMA (Central Intermediate Care Unit) cares for patients who have increased care needs but not intensive care, for example after intensive care, major surgery, or minor trauma. The unit has six care beds in modern facilities in close proximity to CIVA. You work with advanced basic supportive treatment, monitoring, and frequent checks to prevent deterioration of vital functions with risk of intensive care. You'll work with respiratory support treatment such as non-invasive ventilation (NIV), optiflow, and CPAP. You'll also handle arterial lines, central lines, chest drains, and EEG monitoring. Patient care and collaboration with physiotherapists are important parts of patient treatment with the aim of optimizing care. Postop receives patients from all specialties in central surgery, excluding neurosurgery. You care for postoperative patients and are responsible for monitoring and treatment of circulation, respiration, pain, and nausea. You're expected to make independent assessments, plan and perform nursing interventions, and provide prescribed treatment. We work with advanced care and goal-directed prescriptions. Therefore, it's important in the role to be comfortable distinguishing between following directives and reviewing and making your own decisions. Both newly graduated and specialist nurses work here. Work Team In CIVA/CIMA/Postop, you work in interprofessional teams with anesthesiologists, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, and a social worker. About You We're looking for a registered nurse with specialist training in intensive care. A newly graduated nurse with an interest in intermediate care and postoperative care may also be suitable for the position. As you work in dialogue with patients, relatives, colleagues, and other operations, it's a requirement that you have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. This position is right for you if you're confident, take responsibility, and can work independently. You're action-oriented and your working style is characterized by taking initiative and driving care forward. You're stimulated by working in a dynamic environment with varying patient categories. In your professional role, you easily adapt to changing circumstances and see opportunities instead of difficulties. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities.
