The Botany Unit (BOT) is one of the museum's five research units with just over 20 employees. Here is an international team of researchers driving externally and internally funded projects in national and international research collaborations and supervising doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. The unit's staff continuously manage and expand the large botanical and mycological collections (over 4.5 million objects), which are used by both the museum's own researchers and external visitors (Swedish and international). Research at the Botany Unit focuses on biodiversity, evolution, morphology, taxonomy, phylogeny and biogeography within a large number of different plant and fungal groups.

DUTIES
We are looking for a superintendent who will have overall and independent responsibility for caring for and managing the Nordic vascular plant collections. The role includes administering incoming and outgoing matters, including accessions and loan management, as well as registering, photographing and managing relevant material in databases. You will be responsible for proposing updates to the species catalog and to the structure of the collections. You will also be a host for visitors and guest researchers, and be the natural point of contact for the public, botanical societies and amateur botanists. Independently conducted research based on collections is desirable as part of the position and is seen as a valuable part of the museum's work. Work to enrich the collections, work in public contexts, teaching at university level, as well as broader work and various projects within the museum's operations may also occur. Work in the collections requires physical presence; therefore, opportunities for remote work are limited.

QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
• Doctoral degree in systematic biology (or equivalent) with a focus on vascular plants
• Knowledge of and interest in botanical collection work
• Scientific publications in collection-based systematics, including taxonomy and nomenclature
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
• Experience of field work
• Strong and active interest in and knowledge of botanical biodiversity (species knowledge), particularly regarding Nordic flora
It is advantageous if you also have:
• Experience in botanical collection management
• Experience in project management and supervisory work
• Ability to seek and obtain external research grants
• Good network nationally and internationally
• Knowledge of other languages, particularly German, French and Latin
• Knowledge of interpreting handwritten labels
• Knowledge of database management and other digital tools
• Experience of teaching and supervision at university level
• Experience of outreach activities
You need to be organized with good ability to plan tasks and structure them efficiently. You prioritize effectively, meet deadlines and keep your workspace and work materials organized. You are self-driven and take responsibility for your task and structure your approach yourself and drive your processes forward. You have good communication skills and good collaboration skills.
