Candidates who have not previously served in institutions of the Ministry of Interior system or the Prison Administration will be required to complete professional development training in a 3-month course in Riga at the State Police College in November 2026!
Main Job Responsibilities:
respond to reports of criminal offenses or other legal violations, travel to the scene of the incident;
conduct patrols and implement necessary security measures to prevent and detect legal violations, detain offenders, prevent unauthorized activities and disturbances;
when identifying an administrative violation, initiate and ensure proceedings in administrative violation cases, make decisions in the prescribed manner;
initiate and conduct departmental inspections;
when detecting a criminal offense, initiate criminal proceedings and conduct initial investigation activities;
conduct tests for the influence of alcohol and other intoxicating substances in accordance with procedures specified in legal acts;
regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and prevent legal violations while traveling on patrol routes (according to deployment) or while stationed at a patrol post;
provide assistance to victims, identify witnesses to the incident or offense, ensure cordoning off and protection of the incident scene;
search for, detain persons, vehicles and property subject to search, as well as detain persons suspected of committing criminal offenses and administrative violations.
Requirements for Candidates:
compliance with the requirements specified in Articles 4 and 7 of the Law on Officials with Special Service Status in institutions of the Ministry of Interior system and the Prison Administration;
first-level professional higher education (law, civil and military protection, commerce and administration, social and human sciences, computer science);
state (Latvian) language proficiency – highest level C;
Category B driving license;
activated secure electronic signature.
