Candidates who have not previously served in institutions under the Ministry of Interior or the Prison Administration will be required to complete professional development training in a 3-month course in Riga at the State Police College in November 2026!
Main Job Responsibilities:
respond to information about criminal offenses or other violations of law, travel to the scene of the incident;
conduct patrols and implement necessary security measures to prevent and detect violations of law, apprehend violators, prevent unauthorized activities and disturbances;
when administrative violations are detected, initiate and ensure proceedings in administrative violation cases, make decisions in the prescribed manner;
initiate and conduct departmental inspections;
when criminal offenses are detected, initiate criminal proceedings and conduct initial investigation activities;
conduct checks for the influence of alcohol and other intoxicating substances in the manner prescribed by regulatory acts;
regulate vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and prevent violations of law while moving along a patrol route (according to assigned locations) or while stationed at a patrol post;
provide assistance to victims, identify witnesses to incidents or offenses, ensure demarcation and protection of the scene;
search for, apprehend persons, vehicles and property listed as wanted, as well as apprehend persons suspected of committing criminal offenses and administrative violations.
Requirements for Candidates:
compliance with the requirements specified in Articles 4 and 7 of the Law on Special Service Career for Officials of Institutions under the Ministry of Interior and the Prison Administration;
first-level professional higher education (law, civil and military defense, business and administration, social and behavioral sciences, computer science);
state (Latvian) language proficiency – highest level C;
Category B driver's license;
activated secure electronic signature.
