The University of Latvia Institute of Solid State Physics (UL ISSP) announces an open competition for the position of Institute Director (profession code: 111229)
The University of Latvia Institute of Solid State Physics (UL ISSP) is one of the leading scientific research centers in Latvia in materials science and solid state physics, with a significant role in the development of Latvian science and international cooperation. The Institute invites applications for the Director position from individuals who meet the requirements listed below and are ready to take responsibility for the strategic management of the Institute.
Requirements for Director position candidates:
a doctoral degree in natural sciences or engineering sciences and technology;
at least 5 (five) years of administrative work experience;
experience in preparing and managing national and international research projects;
authorship of high-level internationally recognized scientific publications;
participation in scientific institution boards or other relevant councils;
knowledge of the regulatory acts of the Republic of Latvia in the field of scientific activities;
excellent communication and personnel management skills;
language proficiency in accordance with European Common Reference Levels for Languages (https://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/resources/european-language-levels-cefr):
state language proficiency in accordance with the regulatory acts of the Republic of Latvia (C1);
English language proficiency (B2) for international cooperation;
knowledge of other foreign languages will be considered an additional qualification;
irreproachable reputation.
The Institute offers:

salary according to salary group 15 - 35 EUR/hour.

a signed application for participation in the election (see Regulations for UL ISSP Director Elections);
copies of documents confirming academic and scientific degrees (for degrees obtained abroad — a certificate from the Academic Information Center confirming its equivalence to a degree awarded in Latvia);
CV and work history, indicating research, academic, administrative and organizational work experience and a list of published works;
a motivation letter;
a written statement of the UL ISSP Director's work strategy (up to 5 A4 pages), including a vision for the Institute's scientific and financial development, international cooperation, personnel development, structural changes, as well as short-term and long-term action plans;
other documents demonstrating the candidate's competence, skills, and knowledge (optional).
