Norrbotten Regiment, I 19, is one of Sweden's largest regiments. I 19 is tasked with producing combat units for the Norrbotten Brigade, NmekB 19. The brigade's units are specialized in combat in subarctic environments. I 19 is the lock in the North. At I 19, Norrbotten Armored Battalion is responsible for daily training and production of two armored battalions and one mechanized battalion within the Norrbotten Brigade, with assault operations in subarctic environments as the primary capability. The battalions include the latest variants of Combat Vehicle 90 and Main Battle Tank 122. FLF FIN (Forward Land Forces Finland) Starting in 2026, NmekB 19 will primarily be oriented to operate and serve as a force within the multinational force for FLF Finland. As an employee of NmekB 19 and Boden Garrison, you can be part of a historic mission for the garrison, Norrbotten Brigade, the Swedish Armed Forces, and Sweden within NATO. Current planning indicates that the majority of the force contribution will be stationed in Boden and conduct operations within NmekB 19 and FLF FIN in both Sweden and Finland. Operations will include exercises, training, education, and readiness in both Sweden and Finland. MERIT FACTORS Category B driver's license, manual transmission Compensation for Participation in FLF FIN for I 19 Compensation according to the Swedish Armed Forces collective agreement regarding working hours and official travel. This may change if a new agreement concerning foreign service is concluded between the parties. The battalion task force is in continuous readiness 1–3 days during the readiness period. For the readiness, you are compensated according to the collective agreement, currently 5500kr/month. The parts of the unit placed on readiness under NATO command also receive an additional time-limited salary increase of 5500kr/month during readiness. Total monthly compensation for those placed on readiness under NATO command is thus 11,000kr in addition to base salary. You are expected to complete approximately 35–40 Swedish Armed Forces days per six-month period, with the majority conducted in Finland. On-call allowance is paid to individuals in VB service Other Information Employment form: Permanent employment as continuously serving personnel. Alternatively, part-time service as a reserve officer. Within the framework of FLF Finland, there is an opportunity to serve full-time for 6–18 months. Probationary period: The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the agency. The regiment's headquarters and leadership are located in Boden. The regiment's primary task is to build combat units, and in the coming years, I 19 will progressively develop the new Norrbotten Brigade. By 2028, the regiment should be able to train, supply, and mobilize the entire brigade including associated functional units: command, field works, air defense, and logistics. The brigade should be able to conduct operations in all environments but be specialized for operations in the subarctic environment of Northern Lapland. The regiment also has the Swedish Armed Forces' winter unit, which has the task of coordinating and supporting the development of the Swedish Armed Forces' winter capabilities. Basic military training is conducted at Norrbotten Armored Battalion, which is responsible for training and maintaining units for the Norrbotten Brigade. The regiment also consists of regiment staff, Military Health Services, Garrison Support Unit, Logistics Unit, and Local Planning Unit.
