About UsThe Historical Museum is led by a museum director and consists of two units: Collections and Learning, which work closely together in meeting our visitors. You will work in the Learning unit, which consists of a unit manager and eleven museum educators working full-time and part-time with different focus areas. Additional educators join during peak season.
The unit works to create a public offering centered on lifelong and joyful learning. The programs aim to be engaging, spark curiosity about history, and reach new visitors and participants based on their circumstances. The unit plays an important role in visitors' experience of the museum and focuses nationwide when developing activities, both physically and digitally.
About the PositionWe are seeking a museum educator on a part-time basis. This role suits you if you are studying, combining multiple assignments, or seeking meaningful work alongside other commitments. In this role, you have a central and outward-facing function where meeting with visitors is the focus. As a museum educator at the Historical Museum, you meet a diverse audience in the museum's exhibitions, in the studio, via the museum's digital channels, and at other events taking place in the city. You plan and conduct tours and activities for school groups at various levels, Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) students, specially booked groups, and general museum visitors of all ages. You also work with programs directed at children and young people as well as adults. You are responsible for ensuring visitors have a great experience that sparks curiosity and a desire to return.
The role also includes practical tasks, such as preparing for and tidying up after public activities in the museum's facilities, conducting evaluations, and contributing to developing the educational offerings in consultation with program coordinators. We work according to the museum's operational goals and vision, always with our target groups in focus.
About YouWe are looking for someone who has:
At least 60 credits in relevant subjects such as archaeology, history, or pedagogy.
Documented experience conducting various educational activities based on people's different circumstances.
Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
Experience working with digital presentation software and social media.
It is an advantage if you have:
Additional language skills.
Previous experience working with children and young people.
Previous museum tour experience.
Documented experience leading creative workshops.

Good to KnowThe position is a permanent employment at 21%. Working hours are activity-adapted and scheduled, meaning you work one morning per week and every other weekend. The position also includes duties at other times, such as during school holidays and, where applicable, in the evenings. Opportunity for overtime exists, primarily during summer.

State Historical Museums is an agency that conducts museum activities and archaeological contract work. Our shared vision is "Together we make history meaningful for more people." The museums are the Museum of Economics with Tumba Bruk Museum, the Hallwyl Museum, the Historical Museum, the Royal Armoury, Skokloster Castle, and Sweden's Museum of the Holocaust. The contract work operation, the Archaeologists, has offices in five regions.
