The Police Mounted Unit is part of the Operational Unit of Police Region South. The operation consists of three components: daily care of stables, horses and equipment, training and education of horses and riders, and participation in various types of police operations. The Mounted Unit is currently located at Jägersro, but new facilities are being planned. The new location will also be in the vicinity of Malmö in the future. At the Mounted Unit, police riders and civilian employees work in close collaboration. The operation consists of two groups led by group leaders stationed at the Mounted Unit. In addition to staff, there are currently approximately 15-20 horses. We are now seeking engaged, positive, and experienced stable hands who are confident in their role and enjoy working in a team. We can currently offer both permanent positions and temporary and hourly positions. 3 position(s). JOB DUTIES As a stable hand, you will perform all tasks that may occur at a facility with horses. Main job duties: • Feed, muck out, turn out and bring in horses from stables and pastures • Groom and prepare police horses for their assignments • Some facility maintenance such as equipment, pasture and stable maintenance • Riding and driving as needed The job duties are varied and based on the needs of the operation, which is largely driven by external circumstances. The Mounted Unit's work area is the entire South Region, and tasks are typically assigned based on prioritized needs within the region, but sometimes it may also be necessary to support other police regions. Travel in combination with overnight stays may occur in this role. QUALIFICATIONS This is an opportunity for you if you have: • Completed and passed upper secondary education • Certified stable hand education or equivalent education that the employer deems equivalent • At least one year of current work experience from a larger horse facility (at least 15 horses), internship does not count • Driver's license, class B at minimum, manual transmission • Good physical fitness as several of the job duties involve heavy lifting and are physically demanding • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish It is an advantage if you also have: • Experience from the Police Mounted Unit • Experience of working in a team • Good riding skills • BE driver's license • C driver's license Personal Qualities As a person, you are positive, engaged, and solution-focused. You have an attitude that puts the horse's well-being at the center and carry out your work tasks in a safe and secure manner for both the horse and people. The work requires you to be handy, orderly, and have the ability to plan your work efficiently. As a stable hand at the Police Mounted Unit, you are expected to be able to work both in a team and independently. We therefore place high demands on very good teamwork, flexibility, and good communication skills. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. Employment type: Permanent employment.
