Instructor for Sports and Outdoor Activities Day Program in Täby - Part-time Position
Description Would you like to work at a day program with a unique focus on sports, fitness, and outdoor activities? Our participants are young adults with autism and developmental disabilities (LSS category 1), who instead of working are offered a stimulating activity program with a health-promoting focus. Our program is built on outdoor activities, sports, and fitness in all weather conditions. Physical activity is on the daily schedule, such as swimming, obstacle courses, track and field, padel, and walks, all adapted to each individual's abilities. Other activities offered to participants include practicing daily life skills such as packing a swimming bag independently, helping in the kitchen, tidying up, and recycling. Our program is located in Täby within walking distance to Täby center, with access to public transportation such as Roslagsbanan and buses. We work Monday-Friday during daytime hours with great flexibility regarding days and hours. Job Responsibilities As an employee with us, you will be part of a journey to develop our participants. Our mission is to adapt ourselves and our program to each participant's individual needs and abilities. This means assisting and motivating our participants in our sports and outdoor activities as well as helping them during lunch, singing time, desk work activities, and more. We help our participants with structure so they know what will happen and what is expected of them, with social interaction and communication. We work with various tools such as visual supports, low-affect approaches, and alternative and augmentative communication. We want to provide the support they feel they need to participate in society, reach their own goals, and work within their own conditions. As an employee with us, you work by being attentive and showing interest in what each individual expresses and wishes. A large part of the work involves finding and planning meaningful activities in the area and within our own program for our participants, such as walks, swimming, ball games, and outdoor activities. The work involves various physical tasks related to the person's needs and interests. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a sports background who is willing to undergo our internal training in our working methods, or someone who has completed gymnasium-level care, child and recreation programs, support pedagogy training, or equivalent education. Experience working with this target group and practicing some form of sport is highly valued. Experience with low-affect approaches, visual supports, positive reinforcement, and AAC is also beneficial. Requirements include good spoken and written Swedish language skills and computer proficiency. We would like you to have a Category B driver's license. Personal Qualities We are looking for someone who gains energy from physical activity, is confident in yourself and your professional role, accustomed to taking responsibility, and has a solution-focused approach. Supporting other people with special needs to succeed and develop is something you are passionate about. You have a genuine commitment to this target group, good self-awareness, and strong collaboration and communication skills. You are resourceful and driven and contribute to a good social atmosphere with both participants and colleagues.
