The position is located in the Environmental Analysis Unit, which currently has approximately 40 employees.
The unit's main activities include environmental objectives, environmental monitoring, water management, liming and liming effects monitoring, water conservation, and projects. Work Tasks
In Västerbotten County, there is a significant need to implement measures in water environments to achieve environmental objectives and water quality standards. This may involve reducing the burden of nutrients or hazardous substances in lakes, watercourses, groundwater, and coastal waters, removing migration barriers, or restoring water environments. Cooperation within drainage basins and among stakeholders is essential for effective implementation of measures.
We are looking for you to work toward improved water status in the county, develop documentation, and plan water measures. The work involves mapping environmental conditions, impacts, and needs for action in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive. The position focuses on hydromorphology in lakes, watercourses, and coastal waters. The role also includes conducting environmental monitoring and describing environmental conditions, as well as cooperating internally and externally within water management areas. Cooperation may involve guiding and supporting external actors in working toward better water status and prioritizing resources to locations where water measures have the greatest effect. An important task is also to support the County Administrative Board's supervision of environmentally hazardous activities. There is also an opportunity to lead and participate in projects focused on water issues. The work is varied and you will join an experienced team where responsibilities are shared and experiences are exchanged.
Common Work Tasks:
Develop documentation for status classification, particularly regarding hydromorphology in lakes, watercourses, and coastal waters as well as groundwater
Propose water quality standards and measures for the county's waters
Cooperate internally at the County Administrative Board and externally with other authorities, municipalities, and stakeholders in the county to advance action work to achieve good status
Participate in developing monitoring programs in the areas of lakes, watercourses, and coastal waters related to physical impacts as well as groundwater related to water chemistry.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who:
Have a relevant academic degree in natural sciences with a focus on hydromorphology and groundwater.

Experience working in water management
Coordination
GIS
