The City Development Administration within Umeå Municipality consists of Building Permits, Detailed Planning, Land Surveying, Environment and Public Health, and a support staff unit. The Administration has approximately 200 employees. The City Development Administration's mission is to plan and develop the municipality and create conditions for Umeå's sustainable growth. The results of our operations should provide maximum value for Umeå's residents and business community.
Housing adaptation is part of the Building Permits division. We are a small team that works together on processing housing adaptation applications. Housing adaptation grants are municipal subsidies that individuals with permanent functional impairments can apply for under the Housing Adaptation Grant Act.
Your Tasks
As a case officer, you will independently process incoming applications, investigate and assess requested measures, evaluate certificates, and make decisions on grants for individuals in accordance with the Act (2018:222) on Housing Adaptation Grants. This primarily involves exercising public authority. The work includes both office work and visits to individuals' homes. You document continuously throughout the case process.
In your work, you will have many contacts, both internal and external. External contacts may include applicants, relatives, caregivers, property owners, contractors, and others involved with housing adaptation. As a case officer, you also serve as a consultant to those providing certificates and provide advisory services on matters related to the business, for example to applicants and their relatives.
Within the unit, continuous quality improvement work takes place to develop the operation, which you are expected to participate in together with colleagues and your unit manager. The work also includes staying current with applicable legislation, regulations, and court rulings that affect the processing of housing adaptation grants.
The work varies in difficulty level and alternates between independent work and working together with colleagues and other involved parties. We are a small unit that supports each other through close collaboration.
What We Offer You
An exciting job where you make a difference every day!
Challenging and stimulating work with many contacts within and outside our organization.
A small and dedicated team of colleagues with goal focus, care, and close collaboration.
Participation and responsibility in creating conditions to develop the operation to meet future needs.
About You
As a person, you are attentive, calm, secure, and flexible. You will have close contact with applicants and their loved ones, which requires excellent communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. We also consider it important that you are service-oriented and have an interest in meeting individuals with functional variation and their relatives in their home environments, which requires special attention to how you interact with them. You have good teamwork skills and are adept at creating and maintaining good relationships.
Your ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work is strong, and you easily see the bigger picture. You are confident in your role as a public authority and have a strong ability to perform your duties carefully, fairly, and efficiently. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and interest in working with people.
