Your responsibilities
As a group manager, you will lead a group of eight development engineers and project managers who are responsible for planning and development projects, process development projects and collaborative projects. You are responsible for personnel and operational matters by planning and ensuring progress in operations, employee and salary discussions, and operational follow-up. The unit manager has financial responsibility, but as group manager you work in close collaboration with the unit manager and the unit's other group manager regarding both unit finances and other business development.
You work closely with your team, act as a sounding board and provide guidance in daily work on urban planning's land and development issues. You lead the team through coaching, engagement and good expertise in land and development. Together with other group managers in the detailed planning unit, you work to coordinate and manage our shared planning and development projects where a strong customer focus gives Linköping residents the best of the city!

As a group manager in the Urban Planning Department, you get to shape Linköping Municipality's development! Linköping is one of Sweden's fastest growing municipalities with many exciting projects underway, both densification projects in the city center and completely new residential and business areas in the outer city and the municipality at large. Right now we are in an exciting phase where we are developing and strengthening our department so that we are prepared for the future Linköping!
At the Land and Development Unit we are 21 committed employees, of which 14 are project managers and development engineers, who drive long-term projects and leave our mark on city development. We work with projects in different stages, sizes and characteristics, which creates a dynamic and developing work environment. Here there is an opportunity to focus on what you are passionate about and skilled in, while there is also room to develop and broaden your competence.
We are part of the Urban Planning Department, whose task is to work with comprehensive plans and detailed plans that govern land and water use and the design of the built environment. The department is also responsible for the municipality's land supply and development as well as project management of the municipality's development. The department has approximately 65 employees divided into three units; the unit for strategic planning, detailed planning and land and development. We work on urban development issues on behalf of the Building Committee and the Municipal Executive Board.
About you
We are looking for someone with higher education in surveying, urban development or other education that we can assess as equivalent. To succeed in the role, you have experience with development issues in municipal operations as well as good knowledge of contract law, real estate law and real estate economics. Previous management experience or other supervisory function is considered a merit.
As a group manager you set the direction for daily work, and therefore you need to be able to create engagement and participation through your own approach to the role. You are a natural leader who creates engagement and participation, a person who leads and motivates your employees in a self-evident way. Your approach is characterized by development orientation, you are goal and results-oriented and have good self-insight and dare to show courage in difficult situations. In this role it is important that you dare to take initiative and drive processes forward. You can unpretentiously make new decisions and change direction when required. You are a relationship-building person who finds it easy to create contacts and maintain good relationships, a high degree of collaboration and responsiveness are also important qualities to succeed in the role. You are used to working with complex issues and materials, you analyze and can present development proposals that create value for your operations. The role also requires good prioritization skills, good order and structure, and very good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
In this recruitment we use personality and problem-solving tests as part of our assessment. Selection takes place week 33 and interviews are planned to be conducted weeks 34-35.
