About the Workplace The Measurement and Geodata Unit within the Infrastructure Administration is responsible for providing, managing, and developing geographic information and measurement services that support the municipality's operations, decision-making, and service delivery. Work Tasks As a GIS Engineer with us, you will play a key role in developing and improving the municipality's geodata management and digital services. You work with everything from data integration and system development to user-friendly map solutions. You will be part of an engaged team where expertise, collaboration, and development are highly valued. Your work tasks include: Development and maintenance of GIS applications and databases to support the municipality's operations. Conducting analyses and visualizations of geographic data to support decision-making. Collaboration with various departments and external parties to identify needs and implement customized solutions. Participating in projects and working in teams to ensure successful delivery of GIS services. Educating colleagues and residents in the use of GIS technology and its applications. We work extensively with open-source tools for database management (PostgreSQL and PostGIS), server management (Geoserver), and web maps (Hajk). Support tools are primarily FME and QGIS. The municipality also has map systems such as myCarta, ESPA, and AutoCAD. Qualifications You have a university or college education with a focus on GIS, or alternatively other education or work experience that the employer considers equivalent. You are structured, flexible, and understand the importance of documentation. We would like to see that you have good knowledge within: System environments and web GIS Database management, particularly PostgreSQL and PostGIS. System integrations with map clients such as QGIS FME Form and Flow Web development with Javascript Personal maturity: We are looking for someone with a high degree of personal maturity, which means you have the ability to handle different situations professionally and can take responsibility for your own work. Oral communication: You should have good oral communication skills, which is crucial for effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders within the municipality. Structured: A structured work style is important for handling complex tasks and ensuring that projects are completed on time and with high quality.
