Chief Collection Custodian (Museum Sector)

Jāņa Rozentāls Saldus History and Art Museum of Saldus Municipality (Reg. No. 40900003593) invites applications for the position of Chief Collection Custodian on an indefinite-term basis. Requirements for Candidates: Higher education (education in history will be considered an advantage); Work experience related to work in memory institutions; State language proficiency at an advanced level; Good command of information acquisition, processing, and systematization technologies; Strong communication and collaboration skills; Precision and high sense of responsibility; Ability to organize your own work, work independently and as part of a team. Main Job Responsibilities: Manage the formation, supplementation, registration, preservation, and handling of items in the museum's National Collection in accordance with requirements established in regulatory acts; Develop collection development strategy, policy, and regulations; Ensure accessibility of storage materials in accordance with established procedures and requirements set in regulatory acts; Create a research reference system for materials in storage and ensure its accessibility; Control the authenticity and availability of described collection items; Prepare assessments regarding conservation, restoration, or microfilming/scanning of documents or other materials; Regularly conduct activities for optimal preservation of collection items; Monitor the circulation of information and documentation regarding collection items displayed in exhibitions and shows; Conduct inspections of the existence and physical condition of materials placed in the collection; Conduct valuation of collection materials in accordance with requirements established in regulatory acts; Participate in the design and installation of permanent exhibitions and shows; Conducts individual research work, creates and conducts activities, provides consultations, gives lectures, and conducts tours; Perform data entry regarding items in the museum's collection into the National Museum Collection Catalog.
