Physiotherapist at Red Cross Treatment Center with placement in Umeå and Luleå Swedish Red Cross Treatment Center provides treatment for people with a migrant background who have been traumatized by torture, war, or refugee experiences. The center currently employs 10 people across our clinics in Skellefteå, Luleå, and Umeå. We are now seeking two physiotherapists at 75% (alternatively one at 100% and one at 50%) based at the clinics in Umeå and Luleå respectively. We work in teams with a psychologist, social worker, and physiotherapist, and plan treatment based on the patient's circumstances and needs. In addition to standard treatment arrangements with regular appointments, we also offer intensive treatment, groups, and digital visits when needed. Patients are adults and young people from age 16, and we also maintain contact with adult family members and children. About the position As a physiotherapist, you will conduct your own assessments of patients beginning treatment and then plan your treatment interventions together with the patient and the rest of the team. You will have the opportunity to provide individual treatment, lead various types of groups, and collaborate with other healthcare providers. The position includes regular travel to Skellefteå. Beyond patient work, the position also includes development work, knowledge development, and knowledge dissemination. We work on development together with other treatment centers within the Swedish Red Cross and have support from a competence center with connections to universities for research projects. Staff members regularly give lectures in various settings to spread knowledge about war and torture trauma as well as migration-related stress. Employees with an interest in this have the opportunity to seek international training assignments. We offer regular supervision, weekly treatment conferences, and opportunities for professional development. The operation is constantly evolving, and the position offers opportunities for experience and knowledge exchange with experienced colleagues from various professions within the entire Health and Care department, which currently has approximately 100 employees, as well as the opportunity to contribute to one of the world's leading crisis and disaster organizations. About you We are looking for someone who is/has: Licensed physiotherapist Experience with PTSD Experience with and interest in working with our target group Experience with treatment work, preferably also in group settings Experience with the Basal Body Awareness method It is also a merit if you: Are multilingual Have experience in the nonprofit sector Have further education relevant to our target group As someone who applies, you share Red Cross values. More about us The Swedish Red Cross operates five treatment centers for war-affected and torture survivors in Sweden: Skellefteå (with branches in Luleå and Umeå), Uppsala, Skövde, Gothenburg, and Malmö. The goal of Swedish Red Cross treatment centers is to provide support and care to people who have been exposed to war trauma and torture so they can regain their mental and physical health. In addition to clinical treatment work, we work to disseminate knowledge by offering training and information to various target groups, both externally and internally.
