Head of Social Sustainability

We are seeking a Head of Social Sustainability for our social sustainability function. The function works with assignments where the focus is to coordinate the county's work on integration, crime prevention, violence against women, alcohol, narcotics, doping, tobacco, and gambling, as well as supervisory matters related to alcohol and tobacco. Integrating and coordinating issues related to gender equality, human rights, and children's rights both internally and externally is part of the function's mandate. Now we are looking for a Head of Social Sustainability and offering exciting work in a stimulating environment together with experienced and competent colleagues and management peers. As a Head of Social Sustainability, you are responsible for staff, budget, and operations within your function. Work within the function consists of both knowledge development and dissemination, coordination and proactive support, as well as administration of state grants and supervision. Together with the unit management for the society unit (unit manager and management peers), you will lead and develop your function and the entire unit's operations toward the unit's and the authority's vision, goals, and mandate. In your management role, communication, dialogue, and collaboration are a natural and important part—within the unit, with other units and other county administrative boards, as well as with external stakeholders. Important external stakeholders for implementing our assignments include municipalities, the region, civil society, and other government agencies. Your Experience and Knowledge We are looking for someone with relevant academic education in social sciences or other education that the employer deems equivalent for this assignment. You have several years of management experience with responsibility for personnel, budget, and operations, preferably from state or other public sector activities. You are familiar with the state's values and what it means to be a public servant. You also have solid experience with change management and operations development as well as economic planning and follow-up. It is a merit if you have extensive experience with process management. Good knowledge of the county's conditions and experience in prevention and preventive/health promotion work within social sustainability are also merits. Your Personality We are looking for someone who thrives in a work day where both operational and strategic issues are handled in parallel, sometimes at a high pace. You have the ability to plan and prioritize and handle complex relationships wisely. Social sustainability issues include many assignments and many subject areas. You are therefore good at keeping many parts together and bringing them together. You also manage rapid changes in assignments, new assignments, and challenges that arise continuously. As a person, you are driven and structured but also unpretentious with the ability to see the whole picture. You are a reassuring person who exercises clear and sustained leadership, while being responsive and having the ability to create engagement and participation and utilize your employees' competence and create team and unity within the function. Being a present manager is important to you. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities and consider it self-evident that you contribute to a good work environment. Other Information Employment Type: Permanent position with an initial probationary period of six months, full-time. Start date by agreement. A management directive applies to this position.
