About the Swedish Correctional Service The Swedish Correctional Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now recruiting more staff. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the government agency responsible for prisons, community corrections, detention facilities, and inmate transportation. Community Corrections Northern Norrland covers Västernorrland, Västerbotten, and Norrbotten counties and has staffed offices in Luleå, Gällivare, Umeå, and Sundsvall. Community Corrections conducts personal investigations and supervises clients who are conditionally released, under protective supervision, sentenced to community service, or monitored with electronic surveillance/intensive supervision. Community Corrections also works with various treatment programs, in Umeå and Sundsvall also on-site at nearby prisons. Within Community Corrections Northern Norrland, approximately 180 staff members and 13 managers work to reduce client recidivism and thereby increase public safety. Business travel occurs as we also conduct operations at our offices in Gällivare and Kiruna. Job Description As a Correctional Services Inspector, you are responsible for conditionally released clients and clients sentenced to protective supervision who are under supervision. Community Corrections is also responsible for intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, i.e., electronic ankle bracelets, and community service. Work within Community Corrections consists largely of investigative work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and developing execution plans. You also work with leading treatment programs for community corrections clients. As a Correctional Services Inspector, you actively participate in intervention work directed at clients, including through structured conversations based on CBT, motivating participation in program activities, and assisting in release preparation for clients in prisons. Your duties also include conducting personal investigations and providing statements to court and recommending appropriate sanctions. Qualifications You have a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge and adapt your way of communicating to the recipient's circumstances. As a Correctional Services Inspector, you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to communicate clearly. You take responsibility for your tasks and have good judgment. The person we are seeking needs to be calm and stable, with the ability to meet the clientele we work with in a respectful and professional manner. Being calm and confident in yourself is a crucial quality. You must also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it. To thrive and succeed in your assignment, it is important that you share the Correctional Service's fundamental values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and belief that people are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. Furthermore, you are expected through your approach to contribute to everyone being treated equally. We place great importance on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who has: An academic degree (at least bachelor's level), preferably in behavioral sciences, law, social work, or social sciences, or alternatively another academic education (180 credits) combined with experience that the Correctional Service deems relevant. Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish. B-driver's license (business travel occurs). It is also advantageous to have: Well-documented work experience within correctional services, social care, psychiatry, or care and welfare work. Experience working with case management in public activities involving government authority.
