Job Description As a probation officer, you are responsible for conditionally released clients under supervision as well as clients sentenced to protective supervision. The probation service also handles intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, so-called ankle monitors, and community service. You manage your own cases and will have conversations and client contact in your daily work. Work within probation consists largely of investigation work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and developing plans for the execution of sentences. Some probation officers also lead treatment programs. As a probation officer, you actively participate in influence work directed toward clients, including through structured conversations using the KRIMSRICS method, which is a working approach that combines structured risk assessments with a conversation method based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Your duties also include conducting personal investigations and providing statements to the court with recommendations for appropriate sanctions, which means that documentation, management of misconduct, and administration are part of your work in addition to client conversations. The Karlskrona Probation Service is operated primarily in two work teams, where some specialization toward some of the above work areas may occur. Qualifications We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a structured manner according to legislation and is comfortable with client-focused work that consists of both frequent and long-term conversations over time, where you work with evidence-based interventions to prevent recidivism and exercise government authority. You have a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge and adapt the way you convey messages based on the recipient's conditions, and you are secure and stable in your work. In your professional practice, you have good judgment, integrity, and work in a structured manner. As a probation officer, you should be able to work both independently and in a group, and you should be able to communicate clearly. You should also have a physical condition that enables you to act physically if the situation requires it. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect both yourself and others. Furthermore, your approach is expected to contribute to everyone being treated equitably. We place great importance on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who has: • An academic degree (at least bachelor's level), preferably in social work, behavioral science, criminology, or law, or alternatively another academic education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant • Good skills in using the Swedish language in both speech and writing • A class B driver's license It is a merit if you have: • Work experience within correctional services, social care, psychiatry, or health and social care • Experience with government authority • Experience with investigation work • Experience with documentation and case management • Experience with CBT-based interventions/KRIMSTICS • Relevant language skills Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to remove the personal cover letter and replace it with selection questions relevant to the position.
