At Lorensborg youth center, you will be part of a team of 6 recreation leaders who, together with colleagues at Kroksbäck youth center Lyktan, make up the Western Central section. Responsibilities As a recreation leader, you will help build a safe, inclusive, and inspiring meeting place together with young people. You believe in young people's abilities, see their ideas and engagement as a strength, and create conditions for youth-led activities where participation and influence are central. With a coaching and pedagogical approach, you are a trusted adult who inspires young people to take initiative, develop, and try new ideas. You set clear boundaries when needed while building good relationships based on respect and trust. You meet both the needs that young people express themselves and the needs you identify as a recreation leader. You then implement these in planned and spontaneous activities where the effects of your work contribute to young people's development and engagement. You work both independently and with colleagues to develop the activities. As a team player, you actively contribute to shared goals and are someone who gets things done. The work involves close collaboration with schools, guardians, police, social services, clubs, and other local actors. Through active community work and good dialogue with guardians, you contribute to creating safe and positive environments for children and young people. As a recreation leader, you work with children and young people during their free time. This means your schedule includes regular daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. Currently, you work on a two-week rotating schedule (four evenings one week and two evenings the other week). In the fall, we will also begin operations open on public holidays distributed across the entire youth center unit. Qualifications We are looking for someone who: Has a recreation leader diploma from folk high school or other relevant post-secondary education combined with experience working with our target group (youth in grades 6 through upper secondary school). Other relevant post-secondary education could be, for example, in pedagogy, social work, or social sciences, such as recreation pedagogue, social worker, social pedagogue, teacher, criminology, sociology, gender studies, sports science, international relations, or human rights. Has good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. It is meritorious if you: Have previous experience working with youth center target groups. Have experience with community-based work. Have documented knowledge of norm criticism, equality, and youth participation. Have experience with low-arousal approaches. Have been involved as a volunteer in any activity or organization. You see young people's resources and potential and have the ability to create trusting relationships while being a clear adult who dares to set boundaries when the situation requires it. You are a team player who collaborates well with colleagues and other actors, but you are also comfortable taking personal responsibility and working independently. You are proactive, action-oriented, and solution-focused – a person who sees possibilities, turns ideas into action, and contributes to developing the activities. You have good pedagogical skills, are responsive and flexible, and adapt your approach based on young people's and the activity's needs.
