Ung Fritid is seeking a youth recreation leader for a one-year temporary position at Hovsjö youth center. The Youth Recreation Unit is responsible for seven municipal youth centers where young people ages 13-18 are offered open recreational activities in afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Recreation leaders engage youth in shaping and creating their own leisure activities, with special focus on activities that promote democracy, equality, LGBTQ inclusion, and digital online engagement. During school breaks, experience-based activities are arranged for all young people in the municipality, and during summer break, the youth centers offer internship placements. A Day on the Job You start the week by following up on the previous week's youth work with your colleagues. You divide responsibilities and plan how, when, and where you will work during the week. Young people's own needs and wishes have a major impact on what happens in the activities. As a recreation leader, your role is to be relationship-building, attentive, inspiring, and boundary-setting. Your approach is coaching and inclusive. You meet young people with different backgrounds and different circumstances in the open activities at the youth center, but also in schools, online on social media, and other places where young people gather. You collaborate with other local actors and organizations focused on youth. In your role as recreation leader, you actively work on continuous improvements and place special focus on creating an equal and equitable operation where opportunities for non-formal learning, youth participation, and youth-produced activities always exist. Your work extends beyond the physical boundaries of the youth center, and you participate in implementing joint events that promote youth interests. Working hours are scheduled for daytime, evening, and weekends. Who Are You? As a person, you are positive, attentive, and outgoing. You are creative, initiative-taking, and coaching in your role as a recreation leader. You are confident and move freely in youth environments. You collaborate easily with colleagues and partnership partners. You take responsibility and plan, implement, and evaluate your work, contributing to meeting the youth center's and unit's shared goals and mission. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. NOTE: We apply a 6-month probationary period! Requirements: - You have completed youth recreation leader training or other education or work experience that the employer considers equivalent. - You have experience leading and coaching young people. - You have experience working at a youth center. - You have experience teaching practical work to young people, such as woodworking or handicrafts. - You have good knowledge of office software and master Swedish in both speech and writing. - You have a Class B driver's license.
