Are you an engaged and resourceful person who can both help develop the recreation center's activities and be a positive force in the social interaction between young people and colleagues? Then you might be the person we're looking for on the team at Segeltorp Recreation Center.
About the work
As a youth center leader, your assignment is to be a safe and engaged adult who actively contributes to creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive meeting place where young people can develop, socialize, and have fun.
The job is varied, with approximately 70% operational work in the activities and approximately 30% administrative work. Examples of daily operational tasks include building relationships with young people, involving and inspiring young people to participate in various activities, promoting youth democracy, ensuring the recreation center is welcoming and attractive to our visitors. Examples of administrative tasks include planning activities, contacting guardians, collaborating with schools, representing the activity in meetings, developing and managing social media and the Youth App, and planning and managing the MVP-Recreation approach.
Working hours daytime and evenings on weekdays and weekends according to schedule. Our current opening hours are Monday-Thursday 2:30 PM-5:00 PM, Friday 2:00 PM-5:00 PM, and evenings Wednesday, Friday, and odd Saturdays 6:00 PM-9:00 PM.
About the workplace
Segeltorp Recreation Center is operated by the Culture and Recreation Administration in Huddinge Municipality and is located in Segeltorp School. Our activity, which is run in open form for youth ages 13-16, is appreciated and well-visited. Here young people can meet in a safe place with welcoming hangout areas and trusted adults. Activities offered include table tennis, billiards, video games, board games, crafts, baking, café, sports hall, quizzes, music studio, podcast studio, stage, and creative studio, etc.
Service is important to us. As ambassadors for Huddinge Municipality, we help our visitors in the best way. Recreation centers within Youth collaborate with other activities in the municipality to provide meaningful leisure time for Huddinge residents. During school breaks, we adjust our activities and work together with other youth recreation centers, both through joint activities and through outreach work with mobile youth leaders outside the recreation center. On site at Segeltorp Recreation Center, four permanent employees work along with several hourly substitutes. The unit manager is responsible for both Segeltorp Recreation Center and Glömsta Recreation Center as well as Rådsparken Animal Park Playground.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
Documented experience working as a youth center leader at a recreation center or school with youth ages 13-16, in the last three years.
Relevant academic training as a youth center leader. Alternatively, other training that has provided equivalent competence in working to support youth and leading groups. For example, teacher or social pedagogue.
Very good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written. Good English language skills, both spoken and written.
Good computer skills in the Office package.
Merits:
Experience with MVP-Recreation, youth democracy, motivational conversations, project management, the Youth App.
Professionally managing social media and Canva.
Experience with studio technology, podcasting, or playing an instrument.
Willingness to be physically active and participate in physical activities in the sports hall at the recreation center.
Class B driver's license.
