The department currently has approximately 1,200 employees, with approximately 25 people working at the Children's and Education Department's office. As an economist, you report directly to the department head. Work Tasks As an economist, you have a significant role in creating conditions for an equitable school with high quality from an economic perspective. You will work with budgeting and monitoring in the department's preschool operations, cultural school, central administration, and student health. In this, you will work closely with the relevant operational managers and principals. You are part of the department's group of economists where you represent your area of responsibility with a focus on the entire Children's and Education Department's mission. You are responsible for reporting, analyzing, and when necessary, writing supporting documentation, materials for investigations, and matters in the department and the Children's and Education Committee. Qualifications We are looking for someone with an academic education as a Certified Economist or another higher education degree that can be assessed as equivalent. We would prefer that you have experience from a similar position. You have good computer skills and thorough knowledge of the Office package, especially Excel. You should have good knowledge of working with accounting and business systems. Knowledge of municipal organization and public operations is an asset. Experience from school and education is an asset. You have good analytical skills and can independently plan and prioritize your work. You have a good ability to collaborate and communicate both internally and externally, as well as see operations from a holistic perspective. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
