About the Workplace Lund University's Humanist Laboratory (www.humlab.lu.se) is a university-wide platform for research infrastructure that supports the study of human behavior within cognition, communication, and culture. By offering free access to advanced equipment, methodological support, and training, the Lab enables researchers to conduct data collection, analysis, and method development. The operations are interdisciplinary and open to researchers from many different fields, and serve as a meeting place between academia and society. The Lab's current facilities have enabled innovative research in many areas, but there is an increasing demand for mobile solutions. Researchers want to study people and environments in their natural contexts—such as homes, schools, workplaces, and field environments. To meet this need, the research infrastructure must become more flexible and portable, so it can be brought to the research subject rather than the other way around. As part of a recently awarded grant called GoLab, the Humanist Laboratory needs to recruit new expertise to support an initiative toward more mobile, "on-the-go" data collection, as demanded by an increasing number of users. The Humanist Laboratory seeks to recruit a research engineer with a background in computer vision and machine learning to support hardware installation and development of analysis tools for mobile eye tracking measurement. The Lab has approximately 25 employees and is an international environment with several visiting researchers each term. Read more on the university's website about working with us: Jobba hos oss Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility You have experience with eye tracking measurement, computer vision, and machine learning, and will work to support the development of new analysis tools for mobile eye tracking measurements. You will work closely with the lab's eye-tracking experts and develop a pipeline for automated analysis of a broad spectrum of data from experiments using wearable eye tracking systems. Job responsibilities include: Programming/system architecture for analysis tools Evaluation of methods used in the tool (both for selecting methods and for verifying the robustness of the implementation) Collection of evaluation and demo data Production of documentation Authoring of scientific publications Qualifications Requirements for employment: You must have a doctoral degree (PhD) in computer science, computer vision, or a related field. The degree must be completed by the employment start date. You must have documented experience with: Eye tracking, preferably wearable systems Computer vision Machine learning Programming/software development: Python, as well as system/tool architecture and code refactoring Automated analysis of data from wearable eye-tracking systems Documented experience developing open-source tools for eye-tracking data collection or analysis Strong communication skills in Swedish or English (spoken and written).
