The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on, among others, cancer, genetic and autoimmune diseases. One of the guiding principles of the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neurooncology and neurodegeneration, and vascular biology. Parts of the activities are also integrated with the departments of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology and hospital physics at the University Hospital. The department has teaching responsibilities in a number of degree programs, independent courses and international master's programs within the medical faculty. The department has a turnover of approximately 550 million kronor, of which approximately two-thirds are external research grants. The number of employees is approximately 400, of which approximately 100 are doctoral students, and there are a total of over 850 active in the workforce. Read more about the department's activities here: www.uu.se/medarbetare/institution/immunologi-genetik-och-patologi Job Duties You will use advanced genome editing methods to introduce and study inherited or acquired mutations in colorectal cancer genes and in genes that are potential targets for drug treatment directed against loss of heterozygosity. The work will be conducted mainly using the CRISPR-Select method. You will use the effect of mutations on cells growing in 3D and 2D. You will characterize cellular effects and phenotypes of the mutations using methods such as Western Blotting, FACS analysis, trans-well migration assays, viability assays, and confocal microscopy. Qualifications Required Master's degree in molecular medicine, genetics or equivalent. Desirable/Meriting Qualifications Experience with colorectal cancer cell culture, experience with the CRISPR-SELECT method, Western Blotting, FACS analysis, PCR and viability assays.
