About the Position
The job duties will depend on the applicant's expertise and desired employment period, but will include anaerobic bacterial cultivation, single-cell RNA sequencing, and communication with research partners.
Your Background
The applicant must have expertise in molecular methods and be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. The applicant is expected to have a laboratory-based doctoral degree in biological sciences. Applicants with a master's degree and at least two years of full-time laboratory experience in molecular biology after graduation will also be considered.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is considered advantageous: single-cell RNA sequencing, anaerobic cultivation, bacterial physiology, project management, and method development.
Personal suitability will be an important part of the selection process. Key qualities are the ability to work critically and independently, good time management, accuracy, and enthusiasm in daily work.
Due to the short duration of the position, we will prefer candidates who already live close to Uppsala.
About Us
The Department of Soil & Environment conducts research, environmental analysis, and education on sustainable land use in both agriculture and forestry as well as urban environments. Our activities follow national and international strategies such as food security, national environmental and climate goals, and the UN 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. The majority of the department's activities and most of its staff are located in the Soil-Water-Environment building at SLU Ultuna campus in Uppsala, but a research group and a field research station are also located in Skara.
