About the role
As a Flight Test Engineer, you'll be part of a highly specialized flight test organization responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating ground and flight tests on advanced aircraft platforms. The role involves translating development needs, verification requirements, and certification requirements into concrete test programs and ensuring that testing is conducted safely, methodically, and efficiently.
You'll work through the entire test process – from analyzing test needs and developing test plans to leading test execution and evaluating results after flight completion. As a flight test engineer, you have a coordinating role where you collaborate closely with designers, technicians, airworthiness specialists, and test pilots. You'll work with areas such as avionics, communication systems, flight systems, flight performance, and flight characteristics.
The role includes, among other things:
- Plan, prepare, conduct, and report ground and flight tests
- Develop test programs, test plans, and test methodology
- Define requirements for measurement equipment and measurement systems
- Lead and coordinate test execution aboard the aircraft
- Ensure testing is conducted in accordance with applicable safety and certification requirements
- Analyze and evaluate test data
- Collaborate with projects, design organization, technicians, and pilots to verify new features and systems
You'll be part of a cohesive team consisting of flight test engineers, test pilots, sub-project managers, analysts, safety and quality specialists, and engineers working with data analysis and method development in MATLAB and Python. The culture is characterized by close collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a strong commitment to helping each other across disciplinary boundaries to achieve the best possible results.
As new to the role, you'll be offered a structured training program with both internal training and crew training. Over time, there's also the opportunity to complete specialized flight test training.

Requirements:
- Master's degree in engineering or higher technical degree in, for example, aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, or equivalent
- At least one year of relevant work experience in, for example, flight operations, testing/verification, design, system development, or similar
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Good health and ability to undergo and pass a Class 2 medical examination for flight crew
The position is placed in a security classification. Prior to employment, you must undergo a security clearance and be approved according to applicable security protection regulations. This may entail requirements for certain citizenship.
Meritorious:
- Experience in flight testing or other test and verification activities
- Experience from the aerospace industry or other technically advanced operations, such as the automotive industry
- Knowledge of avionics, flight systems, radio and communication systems, or electrical systems
- Experience with MATLAB and/or Python
- Private pilot certificate or other aviation-related experience
- Genuine and documented aviation interest
- Experience working in operations with high requirements for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
