The Unit for Controlling and Accounting The controlling and accounting unit translates economic management from the national level to the regional and departmental levels. The unit creates conditions for regions and departments to manage state funds efficiently through effective and appropriate processes for budgeting, monitoring, analysis, and forecasting. The unit is also responsible for the agency's financial accounting, payment flows, as well as financial statements, and ensuring that the agency has accurate and fair financial reporting. Controller Group Region Bergslagen Finance Bergslagen provides support in financial management for the Police Region Bergslagen. Operations in the police region are organized in three police districts – Dalarna, Värmland, and Örebro – as well as a regional investigation unit, a regional operational unit, an intelligence unit, and a regional office. Employees in Finance Bergslagen are located in Örebro. The position involves some travel within Region Bergslagen, as our mandate also includes supporting the police districts and their managers locally. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES You will work with financial management in close collaboration with both colleagues and budget-responsible managers at various levels. The work is carried out with a high degree of independence and encompasses primarily budgeting, monitoring, analysis, and forecasting. You will participate in budget and monitoring discussions, analyze and report results to budget-responsible managers. The work also includes preparing calculations and developing financial decision-making documents. Additionally, work in connection with annual financial statements, participation in developing accounting practices, and other financial administrative tasks that are part of the group's responsibilities. You will be part of the management group and provide support while contributing your expertise within your area of responsibility. QUALIFICATIONS This is an opportunity for you if you have: • relevant academic education for the role, preferably in economics or a related field such as statistics, or equivalent acquired expertise that the employer considers equivalent • several years of recent professional experience, for example in a role as a financial controller/business controller, accounting economist, or similar role in financial management, which the employer considers relevant • work experience and very good competence in Excel • good knowledge of Swedish It is a merit if you also have: • current work experience from relevant work within government or public sector operations • work experience participating in change and development initiatives • current experience working in financial business systems such as UBW, Dynamics, or similar • interest in and work experience with digitalization, such as experience in digitalizing financial processes, use of digital tools related to financial management, competence in programming and automation, or similar Personal Qualities The job responsibilities require you to be analytical with strategic ability to step back and identify what is most important while keeping the bigger picture in focus. The role will involve many collaboration points, so you need to enjoy working collaboratively at different organizational levels. In dialogue with budget-responsible managers and project leaders, you need to be able to explain financial relationships in a clear and efficient manner; you therefore need to have good pedagogical ability. You need to be confident working independently and self-directed in your professional role and able to take significant personal responsibility for your tasks. Furthermore, you need to work proactively within given parameters and be able to quickly shift focus when the situation requires it.
