About the job As Facilities Manager, you are the unit manager for the Facilities Unit with 17 employees working in campus development, space projects, and facility management. The unit has expertise in facilities coordinators, space planners, property economist, procurement specialists, and controllers. The unit is responsible for approximately 275,000 square meters distributed over four campuses in three cities, with rental agreements with eleven property owners. Linköping University has a clear identity as a program and campus university with four distinct campus environments. Campus development is one of our strategic enablers and generates great interest throughout the organization. This means that you and your team work closely with various parts of LiU and collaborate with other educational institutions. The work is guided by the four-step principle—to first consider and optimize existing spaces before renovation or new construction is considered. Your role and work are part of a whole, and you should appreciate working long-term and cross-process while being ready to handle any operational challenges that arise. Examples of work tasks included: Lead strategic and operational campus development with overall responsibility for quality, cost-efficiency, and long-term sustainability, where the four-step principle and data-driven decisions are important tools. Have full operational, personnel, and budget responsibility. You create a unit characterized by trust, clarity, and high delivery capability. You plan, allocate resources, and follow up on the unit's assignments. Drive cross-boundary collaboration that creates new meetings and meeting places, both internally and with municipalities, regions, and business. Negotiate rental agreements with property owners such as Akademiska Hus and Region Östergötland in consultation with the Digitalization Director. Lead development projects in the role of project manager and continuously keep track of trends and news in the real estate industry. Responsible for LiU's furniture inventory based on circular space provision, and you ensure that the property systems Pythagoras, Mazemap, and the Art Database function and are further developed. Be an ambassador for the university's brand and values, and actively contribute to a culture of trust-based leadership. As of September 1st, the Facilities Unit will be part of the Digitalization and Campus Development Department, and you will be part of the department's management group and report to the Digitalization Director. As one of ten unit managers, you will be an important part of the department's management group where collaboration, knowledge exchange, and development are in focus. We work closely together on various issues and share our experiences in an unpretentious way, which gives you good opportunities to develop in your leadership. We want you to have the following competencies: Academic degree in (for example, engineering, economics, law) or another relevant field. Experience from a complex organization, preferably within public operations. Documented experience of management and leading change work. Good knowledge in the real estate field, such as rental law, building processes, sustainability issues, and public procurement law (LOU). Experience with rental negotiations, space provision, and sustainability and security work. Experience building networks and collaborating with different partners. Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing, and good ability to express yourself in English in speech and writing. It is meriting if you have: Worked with driving development of public environments and spaces. Experience in facility management and architecture. Worked with project management models. Experience with data-driven decision support, such as utilization measurement or property analysis. Your workplace The Digitalization and Campus Development Department is part of the University Administration and begins operations on September 1st.
