About the job
If you are driven by work with multiple contact points and have experience at sea, you now have the opportunity to work as a Maritime Inspector in the Maritime Supervision section at the Swedish Transport Agency. In this role, you will conduct supervision through inspections and surveys, as well as operational controls of vessels and ports. In addition, you will also supervise safety, the environment and working conditions on vessels and shipping companies.
The work as a Maritime Inspector is very outward-facing and involves extensive contacts with the maritime and shipyard industry, as well as related business sectors both in Sweden and abroad. This means you will travel both domestically and internationally. The work includes on-call duty service.

You will
inspect and survey Swedish and foreign vessels
review drawings and technical documentation
conduct new construction/reconstruction and flagging surveys
conduct port state and coastal state controls
perform on-call duty with emergency response for incidents and accidents.
You must have
a diploma as a ship's master or marine engineer with senior experience at sea as a certified ship's officer with qualifications according to STCW II/2 or III/2; without restrictions on area of operation, or a diploma as a civil engineer in naval architecture with several years of experience in ship design and the shipyard industry.
good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English
class B driver's license.
It is an advantage if you also have
experience from technical inspection work on vessels at shipyards/reconstruction/new construction
experience from work at classification societies or in the shipyard industry
experience from case management/administrative handling within a government agency.

The employment is permanent with placement in Gothenburg. Appointment by agreement. We normally apply a probationary period.
Employment with us may involve placement in a security classification. A security clearance with background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment.
