Family Care is part of the Children and Youth area together with the Children and Reception Unit, Youth Unit, and Open Care Services. Your role As a family foster care secretary, you're responsible for recruiting, investigating, and supporting foster families and emergency care homes. You have a central role in ensuring that children and young people placed in foster care receive a safe, stable, and developmental life. You actively seek families willing to receive children and young people, conduct interviews, home visits, and register checks, and write investigations according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines (for example, Nya Kälvesten or BRA-fam). The work is characterized by both independence and close collaboration with colleagues, other professionals, and external partners. You work continuously with follow-up and support to foster families. This includes regular visits, supervision, and counseling to ensure that placed children receive appropriate care and support based on their individual needs. An important part of the role is calculating and following up fees and expenses in accordance with the municipality's guidelines and the child's needs. You're responsible for documentation and any adjustments to compensation. You also work with quality assurance, assess foster families' conditions to carry out their assignment, identify needs for training or support, and contribute to developing quality and routines. You provide both practical and emotional support throughout the placement and participate in training initiatives for foster families, such as "A Home to Grow In." The work involves close collaboration and continuous reporting. You collaborate with the child's social worker, guardians, and other professionals around the child, such as school staff, health care, child and adolescent psychiatric services, BUP, and other municipalities. Documentation and follow-up take place in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines. As a family foster care secretary, you contribute to creating a legally sound, high-quality, and child-focused foster care where the child's best interests are always central. Your competencies and experience Requirements: Sociology degree Meritorious: Experience working with children, young people, and families, preferably in foster care, child and youth care, or similar operations Good knowledge of the Social Services Act, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and relevant guidelines for foster care Documentation experience and experience writing investigations and follow-ups in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines Experience investigating, supervising, or following up on families Ability to recruit and assess foster families and emergency care homes Experience collaborating with other professionals working with children, such as schools, health care, and other municipalities' social services The position requires good collaboration skills and the ability to adapt approach and communication to the current situation. Other information The position is a temporary assignment for one year starting October 1st. Interviews may take place during the application period.
