The Prosecutor Authority is seeking an appeals court assessor for a two-year merit-based appointment as an assistant prosecutor at the agency's Development Center in Malmö. Your responsibilities The Development Center is a consolidated function for legal supervision in criminal matters, legal development, and methodology development. The Development Center has offices in Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm. At each office there are chief prosecutors and deputy chief prosecutors. They are responsible for legal supervision at the agency's other legal levels. The Development Center has a mission to function as a knowledge center and to meet the needs of operational activities with legal information and support. As an expert body within the Prosecutor Authority, the Development Center is largely responsible for contributing to the creation of new legislation, particularly by handling legislative referrals and by providing operations-adapted information about new legislation to prosecutors. The pace of legislation is currently high and we now primarily need to strengthen our ability to perform these tasks. Other tasks may also become relevant, such as developing governing documents and participating in cases handled by the Supreme Court. Work within the Development Center is largely divided between the offices based on different subject areas. Within the framework of a unified Development Center, however, tasks can be distributed more freely based on operational needs and employees' interests and knowledge. We are now seeking an assessor for the Development Center office in Malmö with primary focus on special criminal law in the broad sense, general criminal procedure law, classified coercive measures, seizure, environmental and occupational safety offenses, official misconduct, and hate crimes, as well as matters concerning human rights. Work is conducted under the direction of the chief prosecutor who is the head of the relevant office and together with other senior prosecutors, appeals prosecutors, and case handlers. Legislative referrals are often decided after presentation to the Attorney General or Deputy Attorney General. Your qualities and qualifications You must have: Swedish citizenship Nordic law degree Notarial qualification from district or administrative court upon taking office as assistant prosecutor, you must be a fully trained appeals court assessor. We would like you to: have a strong interest in criminal and procedural law be legally skilled have a good ability to collaborate be driven, able to organize and prioritize your work be stable and have good judgment have good analytical ability and capacity for critical thinking have good ability to express yourself orally and in writing. We will place great importance on your personal qualities. Experience with Swedish and European legislative work is meritorious, as are skills in the subject areas for which the relevant office is responsible. The selection process The position of assistant prosecutor is a merit-based two-year appointment. To receive the position, it is a requirement that the applicant holds a permanent employment at the Economic Crimes Authority or within Sweden's Courts. Prior to offering employment, the Prosecutor Authority may conduct a register check in the suspicion register and criminal record register. The register check is conducted on the final candidate.
