Workplace Description The Student and Education Section provides service and administrative support within the education area and works to create a good working environment for students. The Degrees and Credentials Assessment Department is responsible for handling the majority of the university's degrees at all three levels. We provide support to staff and students on degree evaluation issues, have a central function for assessing genuine competence for credit recognition, and hold process responsibility for the section's records management. The department also includes work within the virtual organization (VO) for assessment of foreign credentials. The department consists of seven specialists and one department manager. The Degrees and Credentials Assessment Department has conducted extensive digitalization efforts in recent years, and this work will continue. Since the majority of degree applications are processed after the end of the spring term, summer vacation is planned for a maximum of four weeks – in accordance with statutory entitlements. Work Tasks As a Degree Specialist at Lund University, you will, among other things, process applications for degrees. As a specialist, you have delegation authority to issue and deny degree requests. This delegation entails significant responsibility and therefore requires precision and attention to detail. Work involving administrative authority requires you to follow the Administrative Procedure Act and other relevant laws and regulations governing the operations. The main system used for degree processing is the student administration system Ladok, and the W3D3 system is used for record management. You will answer incoming questions from students, university staff, and the general public via both email and phone. This requires a high level of service and excellent knowledge of both Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Other tasks included in the department's responsibilities that may be part of this position include processing credit for genuine competence, record management and archiving, follow-ups and statistics, assessment of foreign credentials, and development of the student service function, with a focus on service and digitalization. Work tasks may vary over time. Qualifications Academic degree Relevant current knowledge of Swedish legislation within the degree process and current experience issuing and denying degree applications. Current experience processing genuine competence for credit recognition. Current experience handling degrees at a Swedish university or college. Experience working with educational administrative tasks in Ladok and NyA as well as record management in W3D3. Current experience providing professional service via email and phone. Knowledge of and experience with administrative authority related to the Administrative Procedure Act and the Higher Education Ordinance. Current experience with the above work tasks. Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is required as we have both English- and Swedish-speaking students. Documented good collaboration skills. The section consists of approximately 100 employees, organized in the departments of Admissions, Degrees, Student Health, Student Support and Learning, Student Administrative Systems, and Education Strategic Support.
