Your role As a cook with us, you have an important and visible role in the preschool's daily life. You help awaken children's curiosity about food, flavors, and ingredients while contributing to food joy, well-being, and good meal experiences. Meals are a central part of preschool education and your work contributes to establishing positive values around food, health, sustainability, and the environment. We are looking for someone who is not only a skilled cook but also a relationship-building and communicative person who feels comfortable interacting with both children and adults. You see the kitchen as a natural part of the operation and actively contribute to collaboration with children, educators, guardians, and colleagues. In this role, you will be an important link between the kitchen and the activity, a key connector who creates the conditions for well-functioning meals and good cooperation. You have a strong interest in sustainable cooking and want to create nutritious, delicious, and varied meals with a focus on quality, seasonal adaptation, and reduced food waste. Your main responsibilities: Prepare good and nutritious meals from scratch and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks Create meals that promote food joy and awaken children's interest in flavors, ingredients, and sustainable eating habits Actively collaborate with educators and other staff regarding the educational content of meals Be a visible and available adult for the children and contribute to positive relationships and a safe meal environment Plan purchases based on season, sustainability, quality, and budget Work actively to reduce food waste and increase the use of sustainable and organic food products Prepare nutritious special diets according to children's different needs and allergies Manage self-monitoring, food hygiene, dishwashing, and cleaning and ensure food handling is carried out in accordance with applicable legislation Receive and handle goods deliveries and be responsible for orders via the city's trading portal Take full responsibility for the kitchen at one of our preschools with three departments Your competence and experience We are looking for someone who has: excellent Swedish language skills to be able to express yourself extensively in speech and writing, a high school diploma from a restaurant and food program or another high school diploma followed by post-secondary education as a cook, multiple years of current experience as a cook in preschool/school/large kitchen where you have independently prepared meals from scratch, experience in preparing special diets and knowledge of food hygiene and nutrition science, experience working with computers with good knowledge of the Office package (Word and Excel), experience taking responsibility for budgets with an understanding of financial management, knowledge and experience seeking information about the food agency's guidelines for kitchens within preschools, knowledge and experience with self-monitoring, experience working with organic food products and sustainable purchasing, ability to plan and create nutritious and varied menus. It is a merit if you have: experience making food orders via computer in systems such as agresseo, training in food hygiene and food safety/HACCP (at least basic training approximately 1 day). Other information In accordance with the salary transparency directive, the salary is disclosed between the 10th and 90th percentile. For this position, Stockholm City has a salary range between 31 190 SEK - 37 554 SEK. Individual and differentiated salary setting applies. Stockholm City applies applicable collective agreements concluded between Sweden's Municipalities and Regions (SKR) and relevant employee organizations.
