Experienced Estimating Manager for Large Infrastructure Projects – Mälardalen Region Our client is seeking an experienced and self-directed estimating manager for a long-term full-time assignment within a large and complex infrastructure program in the Stockholm and Uppsala regions. This role is central to cost estimation and production planning and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to societally important infrastructure in a leading technical position. Initial assignment length is 24 months with the possibility of multi-year extension. Scope: Full-time. Start: October 2026. Location: Solna and Uppsala, on-site work five days per week. About the Assignment You will have a key role in the project's cost estimation and budgeting work and will work closely with project management and other technical functions. The assignment includes both developing your own cost estimates and conducting qualified reviews of estimates, quantities, production methods, and cost basis. This role is suitable for someone with solid experience from large earthworks, civil engineering, or foundation contracting projects and who is comfortable combining detailed production knowledge with a broader financial perspective. Responsibilities As estimating manager, you will among other things: Manage procedures for cost estimates and uncertainty analyses throughout the project's various phases Prepare documentation and compilations for the project's total cost Develop your own cost estimates and review estimates prepared by contractors and other suppliers Support project management on estimation and cost matters Contribute to evaluation of technical solutions and production methods for upcoming contracts Review and evaluate cost estimates and quantities Structure and break down cost estimates for effective financial management Monitor estimate compliance, quantity control, and chosen production methods Drive matters and requirements related to cost estimate deliverables Lead and participate in working forums and recurring meetings with multiple functions Requirements for the Role To be considered, you must meet all of the following requirements: University degree in civil engineering or other relevant education At least 5 years of current experience with regular cost estimation in large and complex earthworks, civil engineering, or foundation projects with contract values exceeding 500 million kronor At least 3 years of experience in production planning during the production phase of large earthworks, civil engineering, or foundation contracts exceeding 500 million kronor, including excavation and material handling work, concrete structures, and foundation work Documented knowledge of MAP or other equivalent cost estimation software Very good skills in Microsoft Excel and good general knowledge of Microsoft Office Very good Swedish and good English, both spoken and written Class B driving license Ability to work full-time on the assignment Ability to work physically on-site five days per week and regularly work from two offices in the Stockholm and Uppsala regions Meritorious It is particularly meritorious if you have: Experience from railway projects, where extensive long-term experience is particularly valuable Experience with established cost estimation processes within larger public or government infrastructure operations Several years of experience leading working forums and meetings in a leadership capacity Experience from very large and complex investment programs with multiple parallel contracts Experience working closely with both project management, contractors, and technical specialists Who We Are Looking For You are a senior and self-directed specialist who is confident in both developing your own analyses and challenging others' cost estimates and assumptions. You work in a structured and analytical manner, but at the same time have a strong understanding of how cost estimation, quantities, production methods, and practical implementation are interconnected. Since this role involves many contact points, you need to be communicative and pedagogical and able to drive matters forward even when multiple technical and financial perspectives need to be balanced. You should be comfortable leading meetings and working forums and be able to present complex cost estimation matters in a clear manner. Workplace and Structure This is a full-time assignment conducted on-site five days per week. The work is divided between two project offices in the Stockholm and Uppsala regions, with the understanding that working time is distributed approximately equally between the offices. A normal work week is approximately 40 hours and work is carried out mainly during regular business hours. For the right candidate who needs to finish an existing assignment, a gradual start during the first months may be possible.
