As a municipal legal counsel in Kungsbacka municipality, you will use your legal expertise to help develop a growing municipality where people's daily lives are at the center.
The role of municipal legal counsel with us
Being a municipal legal counsel in Kungsbacka means working in a multifaceted operation that requires you to quickly, flexibly, and independently engage with legal issues.
As a municipal legal counsel based in the Municipal Executive Board's administration, you will primarily assist the Municipal Executive Board's politicians and staff, but also the municipality's administrations and committees with legal matters.
The role also requires you to have a consultative approach and pragmatically drive your matters, as well as enjoying assisting colleagues with advice and support within your areas of expertise. You will collaborate with a fellow municipal legal counsel.
The position involves working with matters that touch many different areas of law and with a high degree of complexity throughout the municipal sphere.
The role includes, among other things:
Providing support on matters regarding public access to information and confidentiality, as well as GDPR, the Municipal Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, data protection, and other legislation.
Conducting legal investigations within various subject areas.
Preparing matters for the Municipal Executive Board.
Handling certain appeals.
Drawing up statements to authorities, citizens, and other stakeholders.
Representing the municipality in negotiations and legal proceedings in court.
You have knowledge of digitalization law or are interested in learning.
The work is varied with many contacts, primarily internal and as an advisor and educator in legal matters. In-house training occurs to some extent. It is important that you actively follow legal developments and take the necessary initiatives to keep the municipality updated on applicable regulations.

You take a strategic approach that looks out for the municipality's best interests, and your guidance supports matters within operational development and digitalization for long-term value creation.
As a person, you are analytical and meticulous. You have the ability to structure complicated matters and have an innovative approach and good judgment.
The work requires that you have excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing, and also the ability to convey information in an educational manner.
As a municipal legal counsel, you will have many internal contacts, so your communication and collaboration skills are of great importance.
Great weight will be placed on personal suitability.
We are seeking someone who has:
A law degree and several years of experience in qualified legal work.
Very strong knowledge of public access to information and confidentiality legislation, as well as GDPR, the Municipal Act, data protection, the Administrative Procedure Act, and other laws and regulations that govern municipal and public operations. You have acquired this knowledge through work experience.
Knowledge, experience, and understanding of relevant work in a politically governed organization.
It is meritorious if you have:
Experience in public law work within a municipality or the state, particularly central municipal legal work.
Experience from court work, state administration, or law practice.
Knowledge, experience, and understanding of laws and regulations within the area of digitalization, privacy, and personal data.
Municipal Executive Board Administration
The Municipal Executive Board's office consists of 15 colleagues who work, among other things, as municipal secretaries, data protection officers, and specialists in information management.
The Municipal Executive Board's office is an operation within the municipal management office in the Municipal Executive Board Administration. The Municipal Executive Board Administration also includes the Urban Development Office.
We work activity-based and approve remote work to a high degree.
