The Opportunity Hitachi Energy is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join the Composites team in Piteå. Composites is part of the Transformers unit, where we work on the development and manufacturing of market-leading composite insulators for high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage equipment. Our customers are located worldwide, both within and outside Hitachi. As an Environmental Specialist in Composites, your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations, and that our operations meet applicable legal requirements as we conduct environmentally regulated activities. In this position, you will play a key role in developing environmental initiatives to support the company's sustainability goals and advancing our ISO 14001 work. You will also be responsible for reporting on progress and developments within your department. Your Responsibilities Manage monitoring of the business's environmental permits, reportable activities, and ensure compliance with environmental law and other relevant regulatory requirements. Serve as the company's primary contact with regulatory authorities, municipalities, and other external stakeholders on environmental matters. Drive and coordinate reporting of environmental data, key metrics, and legally mandated reports to internal systems and authorities. Lead and support work with chemical management, chemical risk assessments, and ensure compliance with internal requirements and applicable legislation. Develop, maintain, and improve the business's environmental management system according to ISO 14001 and ensure that processes and procedures are fit for purpose and followed. Drive improvement initiatives in areas such as waste management, resource efficiency, emission reduction, and sustainable production. Train and coach managers and employees on environmental requirements, environmental risks, and sustainable practices. Your Background University degree in environmental science or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience. Experience with environmental compliance, ISO standards, sustainability, hazardous waste, and chemicals. Experience driving and coordinating processes related to environmental matters. Strong understanding of incident management, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance. Ability to coach, train, and support managers and employees on environmental issues. Fluent knowledge of Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
