Environment, Health and Safety Specialist for Global Company in Gothenburg

We are now seeking an EHS Specialist for a global company headquartered in Gothenburg. In this role, you will have a central function within Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) and contribute to ensuring that operations work proactively, sustainably, and in line with applicable legislation and standards. This is a full-time consulting assignment starting as soon as possible, running until June 30, 2027 with the possibility of extension. The role is based in Gothenburg. About the Role As an EHS Specialist, you are responsible for establishing and developing structured processes within environment, health, and safety for the business and its own operations. The role also involves ensuring compliance with relevant laws, requirements, and standards within EHS and sustainability, with particular focus on Swedish EHS legislation and regulations. You will function as a specialist and advisor in the field and work closely with managers, HR, and other functions to strengthen the organization's approach and competence within occupational health and sustainability. The role requires a senior profile with the ability to drive strategic matters, communicate effectively with different parts of the organization, and present and report relevant issues to management groups and committees. You work in a matrix organization and therefore need to be able to create engagement, build relationships, and drive work forward even without formal personnel responsibility. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will, among other things: - Establish and maintain structured processes for EHS work - Ensure compliance with Swedish occupational health and environmental legislation - Support managers in risk assessments and implementation of measures - Drive systematic occupational health work (SAM) and organizational/social occupational health (OSA) - Manage and follow up on incident and near-miss processes - Conduct training and provide support on occupational health matters, ergonomics, and safety - Follow up on and analyze KPIs related to occupational health and safety - Coordinate safety rounds, occupational health forums, and follow-up activities - Collaborate with HR and the rest of the organization on occupational health and change management - Take responsibility for the Sustainability Compliance process - Manage contact and reporting to authorities in the EHS field - Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and coordinate internal/external audits - Manage systems and tools for EHS and legal compliance - Drive strategic EHS initiatives and communicate relevant matters to management groups and committees Requirements for the Position - Relevant higher education or university degree - 3–5 years of experience in occupational health, EHS, compliance, or similar areas - Strong and practically applicable knowledge of Swedish EHS legislation and relevant regulations - Experience with SAM and OSA - Experience with incident management, investigations, and follow-up - Experience with ISO-based management systems - Experience in project management, change management, or strategic development work - Experience working in a matrix organization and driving matters cross-functionally - Accustomed to independently reporting and communicating EHS matters to management groups and committees - Fluent in both Swedish and English We Are Looking for Someone Who Is - Structured, thorough, and methodical - Self-driven and proactive - Strategic with a strong drive to develop and improve EHS work - Engaged in environment, health, and safety - A confident and clear communicator who can adapt messages to the audience - Skilled at building relationships and networks within the organization - Experienced in leading and influencing in a matrix organization - A person with strong collaboration and communication skills Contact Information If you have questions about the position or the recruitment process, please feel free to contact the responsible recruiter Josephine Hjalmarsson at [email protected] If you have questions regarding registration, please contact support at [email protected] We welcome your application!
